LEXINGTON, Va. --- The 12th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team was named the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions and gave Head Coach Brooke O'Brien her 100th career win with a 9-6 victory over Guilford on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.

O'Brien's career record now stands at 100-35 (.740) and has won her sixth ODAC title.

W&L (16-2) took a 1-0 lead after senior attacker Greta Witter(Houston, Texas / The Hill School) notched the first goal of the game at the 24:21 mark. Guilford's (12-7) Lily Colley (Wells, Maine / Wells) responded 52 seconds later to tie the game (1-1) with an unassisted tally at 23:39.

Jumpstarted with a goal by senior attacker Margaret Klein (North Andover, Mass / Brooks) at 16:43, the Generals scored five-straight to take their largest lead (6-1) of the game going into the intermission. First-year attacker Lauren Procaccino(Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) led the surge with two goals.

The Quakers recorded the first goal of the second half off an unassisted score by junior midfielder Eleanora Keene (Wittman, Md. / Gunston Day School) at the 26:29 mark to pull within four goals (6-2).

Sophomore attackers Carly Taglienti (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) and Melissa Coggins (St. John's, Fla. / Bartram Trail) brought the lead back to six (8-2) by the 20:27 mark, with each scoring their first goal of the contest.

Colley continued to be a scoring threat for Guilford, notching back-to-back free-position goals in a span of 1:35 to once again pull the Quakers within four goals (8-4) with 18:04 left to play. Klein got her second score of the game at the 10:52 mark to increase the Generals' lead back to five (9-4) and squelch the Quakers' offensive momentum.

Keene found the back of the net twice in the final 10 minutes for the Quakers, including a score with 13 seconds left on the clock, but they were not able to overcome the five-goal deficit they suffered at the half.

Junior keeper Cara Mulligan (Glen Ridge, N.J. / Glen Ridge) played the entire game in goal for the Generals, finishing with eight saves and two ground balls. First-year Sammi Milbourn (Lake Zurich, Ill. / Lake Zurich) suffered the loss and recorded nine saves.

Klein and Procaccino led the Generals, with each tallying two scores and dishing out one assist. Klein also added three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Senior defender Leanne Stone (Darien, Conn. / Darien) picked up a game-high four ground balls and caused three turnovers.

Colley and Keene paced the Quakers' offense, with Colley registering three goals and one assist and Keene recording three goals and four draw controls. Keene also led the team with three caused turnovers.

The All-Tournament Team was also announced at the conclusion of the game and five Generals were selected for the honor. Klein, Mulligan, Procaccino, Stone, and senior defender Olive Waxter (Baltimore, Md. / Roland Park) were each named to the team.

Guilford's Colley, Keene and Milbourn, Betsy Hebert and Jenelle Whitman from Randolph-Macon, along with Liz Bereit and Samantha Sisson from Shenandoah also received the honor.

The Generals have now won a conference-best 15 ODAC Championships, including the last five. With the win, W&L earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and will learn whom it plays when the selection show airs tomorrow at 9:30 pm on NCAA.com.
