Generals Hoist 17th Straight ODAC Women's Tennis Trophy

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- The 23rd-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team captured its 17th consecutive ODAC Championship, and 29th overall title, after securing a 5-0 win over second-seeded Lynchburg on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops the Hornets to 18-3 overall, while the Generals improve to 16-7 on the season and earn the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

First-year Taylor Garcia (Mandeville, La./Mount Carmel Academy) and senior Mary Hampton McNeal(Beaufort, S.C./South Carolina Connections Academy) both claimed two wins on the day to lead the Generals. Garcia and first-year Georgia Wright (Austin, Texas/Regents School of Austin) defeated Sarah Wyly and Lilli Altenburg, 8-3, in No. 2 doubles, before she went on to down Wyly, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 2 singles.

McNeal teamed with junior Anna Kreynin (Mequon, Wis./Homestead), as the duo swept Reagan Coon and Alissa Anderson, 8-0, in No. 3 doubles. McNeal then went on to drop Anderson, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 3 singles.

The Generals now await who they will face-off with in the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA will announce the full tournament field on Monday.
