Randolph-Macon Earns Top Billing
SALEM, Va. --- The 2009 ODAC Volleyball
Tournament opens with the new face as the top seed entering the
tourney. Randolph-Macon College holds the top billing in this
year's two-day event, with Washington and Lee University and
Lynchburg College holding the second and third seeds,
respectively. The Generals and Hornets each posted 8-2 league
records, with WLU earning the higher seed based on its head-to-head
victory over LC in conference play. Bridgewater College
rounds out the top four ranks.
Emory & Henry College and Virginia Wesleyan College are also
dead-locked with 6-4 records in ODAC competition. The Wasps
regular season victory over the Marlins earned them the fifth
seed. Roanoke College will play out of the seventh position,
while Guilford College caps the eight-team field as the final seed
through head-to-head tie-breaker with Eastern Mennonite
University.
ODAC tournament action begins Friday, November 6, with four
quarterfinal matchups. The event continues on Saturday,
November 7, with semifinal contests in the morning followed by the
conference championship match in the afternoon. All matches
will be played in the gymnasium at Hollins University.
