Lynchburg Wins Five-Setter Against Roanoke

ROANOKE, VA - The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated Roanoke College in the quarterfinals of the ODAC on Friday night (27-29, 25-9, 23-25, 25-18, 15-6) in a five-set thriller.  Lynchburg will now move on to the semifinal matchup on Saturday against the first-seeded Washington and Lee, which defeated Emory & Henry 3-0 earlier in the day.

Junior Elena Kritter had 12 kills of 26 attempts with no errors for a .462 hitting clip. She also had 20 digs and two service aces on the night.  Sophomore Mallory Stewart recorded 10 kills of 16 attempts with no errors for a .625 hitting percentage. Stewart also contributed four total blocks (two solo).  Classmate and setter Brooke Moughon led the team with 26 assists and had 13 digs with two service aces. Leading the team in digs on the night was freshman libero Kristen Martin with 22 pickups.

The Hornets finished the match with 11 total team blocks and hit .291 collectively.

For Roanoke, Kelsey Largen led the way with 12 kills.  Nicci Moats added eight winners, while Maggie Wagner and Kylie Lucas chipped in a half-dozen kills each.  Wagner also collected 21 digs.  Emily Martin led the defense with 22 digs.  Shannon Stone and Bren Wilberger combined for 33 assists.
