LEXINGTON,
Va. --- With four players recording at least 10
kills, the Washington and Lee volleyball team cruised to a 3-0
victory over Roanoke at the Warner Center on Wednesday in the Old
Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
With the
second-seeded Generals' (24-9) 25-22, 25-15, 25-14 win over the
seventh-seeded Maroons (16-15), W&L advances to the ODAC
semifinals on Saturday and will play third-seeded Bridgewater. The
match will be played at top-seeded Randolph-Macon.
Against
Roanoke, senior outside hitter M.A. Boles, sophomore middle blocker
Katie Toomb, first-year outside hitter Anna Lausberg and
first-year right-side hitter Maddie Kosar each had double-digit
kills. Boles led the team with 15 kills, and she also had a
double-double with 12 digs.
Kosar and
Lausberg also each notched double-doubles. Kosar had 10 kills on
just 16 attempts for a .562 hitting percentage and 10 digs.
Lausberg totaled 11 kills and a team-high 15 digs. Toomb had 10
kills on 15 attempts for a match-high .667 hitting percentage.
Junior setter
Meghan Meleski had 26 assists to lead the Generals. First-year
libero Kasey Cannon added 13 digs.
First-year
outside hitter Macey Tyrie led the Maroons with seven kills, and
sophomore libero Mackenzie Tyree led the team with 14 digs. W&L
hit .315 as a team, and held Roanoke to a .095 team hitting
percentage.
The Generals
play Bridgewater on Saturday in the ODAC semifinals with the time
to be determined. The Eagles defeated sixth-seeded Emory &
Henry to advance.
