Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) and 14 kills from
first-year middle blocker Mackenzie
Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline), the top-seeded Washington
and Lee volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over fifth-seeded
Roanoke, 3-1, on Saturday in the ODAC semifinals at the Warner
Center.
The 25-10, 18-25, 25-19, 25-13 win advanced the Generals (27-6) to
their 18th ODAC Championship match and their fourth straight.
Boles notched a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs. Shand
totaled a career-high 14 kills on 27 attempts for a .481 hitting
percentage. She also added three blocks.
Senior setter Meghan
Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) distributed the ball
on offense with 48 assists. Senior outside hitter Allison
Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) notched 10 kills and eight
digs.
In the back row, junior defensive specialist Kelly
McManus(Osprey, Fla./Pine View) totaled 12 digs, and sophomore
outside hitter Kasey
Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) led the
team with 14 digs. She also had six kills.
Senior outside hitter Samantha Klostermann (Roanoke, Va./Hidden
Valley) led the Maroons (19-11) with 11 kills, and senior libero
Mackenzie Tyree (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) registered a
match-high 16 digs.
The Generals will be looking for their 14th ODAC title when they
take on Lynchburg later on Saturday at 5:00 pm, in what will be a
rematch from last year's final.
