Randolph-Macon Secures Top Seed for Fourth Straight Season
FOREST, Va. --- Randolph-Macon College's run of unbeaten regular seasons continued in 2017 as the Yellow Jackets ran thru the league table unscathed for a third straight campaign on the way to securing the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Volleyball Tournament. This marks the fourth straight season R-MC has owned top billing in the conference's eight-team tournament.

Washington and Lee University lost just once -- to Randolph-Macon -- during the conference regular season, earning the Generals the second seed. The next two positions were determined by sifting thru one of three ties that dotted the final standings. Bridgewater College and Virginia Wesleyan University tied at 8-3 following Friday night's action. The Marlins will play as the third seed after their regular season victory (3-1) over the Eagles.
Lynchburg College locked up the fifth-seed outright and will head to Bridgewater for quarterfinal action. The second of two ties featured Roanoke College and Guilford College for the sixth and seventh seeds. The two squads played twice during the regular season, but only the latter contest on October 4 counted towards ODAC play. The Maroons won that affair, 3-2, awarding them the sixth seed and a trip to Virginia Wesleyan for the quarterfinals. The Quakers head up to Lexington to face W&L as the seventh seed.
The final spot in the eight-team field involved a four-way tie that took two rounds of head-to-head tiebreakers to break. Eastern Mennonite University and Randolph College separated from the original four teams with 2-1 records amongst the tied group. The Royals' 3-0 victory over the WildCats on October 21 provided the deciding difference, assigning EMU to the final tournament position. EMU will square off with R-MC in the quarterfinals in Ashland.
Quarterfinal play begins Wednesday, November 1, at times to be determined. The semifinals and championship will be hosted by the highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals. Those matches are slated for Friday and Saturday, November 3-4.
