Virginia Wesleyan Earns Top Billing in ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament

FOREST, Va. --- The eight teams are set for the first fall ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament since 2019 with the conclusion of regular season play on Saturday. Virginia Wesleyan University enters as the top seed after collecting 25 points from a possible 30 in the league table.

The 2021 tournament will be played under a new format with the conference moving away from the final four structure from years past. The quarterfinals will be hosted by the top four seeds on Tuesday, November 2. The four winners will take part in the semifinals in normal bracket progression on Friday, November 5. The highest remaining seed will host the championship on Sunday, November 7. All game times will be announced later this week.

Virginia Wesleyan (8-1-1 in ODAC play) secured its chart-topping position with a 1-1 draw at Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles (7-0-3) will play as the second seed after winning a head-to-head tiebreaker with the University of Lynchburg. The Hornets (8-2-0) also earned 24 standings points, but Bridgewater's 1-0 victory earlier this month over Lynchburg afforded BC the higher seeding. Washington and Lee University (7-1-2) rounds out the top four seeds.

First-seeded Shenandoah University (6-3-1) will make the trip south to W&L for quarterfinal play on Tuesday. Sixth-seeded Guilford College (5-4-1) will travel north to take on Lynchburg. Randoph-Macon College (5-5-0) will play as the seventh seed, which sends the Yellow Jackets to Bridgewater for quarterfinal play. Roanoke College (4-5-1) occupies the eighth seed and will head to VWU in the opening round.
