2022 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament News

The University of Lynchburg lifted its ODAC record 17th women's soccer trophy following an instant classic of a title clash with Virginia Wesleyan University at the Marlins' Trinder Center on Sunday afternoon. The two squads played to a 1-1 draw through 110 minutes of regulation and two extra-time periods before a save by Lynchburg keeper Jade Lecklider on VWU's seventh-round penalty kick clinched the Hornets first crown since 2018. Sunday's contest marked the sixth time an ODAC women's soccer championship was awarded via penalty kicks including three of the past four league title matches. Five additional conference championship games were decided in extra-time. In addition to another trophy for its showcases, Lynchburg earns the ODAC's automatic entry into the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. The selection show for the 64-team field is set for Monday, November 7, at 2:00 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.

The reigning ODAC Champions the No. 3 seeded Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer team defeated the No. 2 seeded Generals of Washington & Lee University 2-1 on Friday afternoon in Lexington, Va. Shyenne Diaz and Alexis Miller scored the two Marlin goals to keep VWU ahead of WLU and earn the right to host the 2022 ODAC Championship match on Sunday afternoon at the Tassos Paphites Soccer Complex.

Third time is a charm for Bridgewater College women's soccer! The Eagles captured their first ODAC women's soccer title in their third appearance in an ODAC championship game on Sunday afternoon in Lexington. Collecting the league hardware did not come easy as second-seeded Bridgewater and top-seeded Washington and Lee University went to penalty kicks to determine the 2020-21 conference champion following 110 minutes of scoreless play thru regulation and two overtime periods. Bridgewater (11-1) made each of its first four penalty kicks thanks to scoring efforts from Emily York, Hanna Randolph, Skyler Daum, and Lindsey Winkels. Washington and Lee saw two of its efforts go off either post, resulting in a 4-2 shoot-off result for the Eagles.

Sophomore goalkeeper Edye Carr (Clinton, N.C./Clinton) saved the fourth penalty kick by Virginia Wesleyan, and sophomore midfielder Maddie Bauman (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) put the final PK into the top right corner of the net as 14th-ranked and top-seeded Randolph-Macon claimed its 13th ODAC Women's Soccer Championship after playing to a scoreless tie with the third-seeded Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

Senior forward Gabby Nelson (Clover, Va./Halifax County) scored two goals, had an assist, and was fouled in the box to force a penalty kick, all in the second half, as the 14th-ranked and top-seeded Randolph-Macon women's soccer team defeated eighth-seeded and defending conference champion Lynchburg 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2019 ODAC Tournament.

The third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University women's soccer team used a last minute goal to drop #6 Shenandoah, 2-1, in the ODAC Championship First Round Wednesday evening played at the Trinder Center. With the win, the Marlins improve to 12-3-3 on the season while the Hornets finish their season at 12-8-0.

The Lynchburg College women's soccer team earned its sixth-straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title Sunday in a 1-1 double overtime tie against Roanoke College, outscoring the Maroons 5-3 in penalty kicks to determine the champion. LC earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and will find out all of the details of NCAA post-season play on the NCAA selection show Monday at 1 p.m.
