2022 ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament News


November 5, 2022
Senior defender Charley Colby (Prairie Village, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) scored the game-winning and championship-clinching goal with under 40 seconds to play in regulation to lift the No. 22 Washington and Lee men's soccer team to its seventh ODAC title in program history, 2-1, over Roanoke on Saturday.

Sophomore midfielder Weyimi Agbeyegbe (Atlanta, Ga. / Westminster) led the charge for the 22nd-ranked and second-seeded Washington and Lee men's soccer team, scoring half of the team's goals in a 6-1 win over third-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Semifinals on Wednesday.

The Roanoke College men's soccer team advanced to the ODAC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2014 with a 2-0 shutout win over No. 8 seed Hampden-Sydney in the semifinals on Wednesday evening in Salem.

Tournament MOP Luke Mega converted a penalty kick in the 102nd minute to give the University of Lynchburg 1-0 victory in extra-time over Randolph College in a clash of cross-town rivals at Lynchburg's Shellenberger Field. The win clinched an ODAC-record 18th league crown for the Hornets, and they also earn the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. The selection show for that field will be at 1:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com on Monday, November 8.

Luke Mega gave the team the lead with a first-half penalty kick goal, Kenny Robles scored twice in the second half, and University of Lynchburg advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship match with a 3-0 semifinal win over Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday evening on Shellenberger Field.

The Randolph men's soccer team faced their toughest challenge to date as the WildCats took on #1 ranked Washington and Lee in the ODAC Semifinals on Wednesday night at Alison Parker Watt Field. The game went to overtime where with 26 seconds left, the WildCats were granted a penalty kick which Evan Blow (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) converted to send the 'Cats into the ODAC Championship game.

2021 Spring Men's Soccer Tournament News

It's hard to vote against the University of Lynchburg when a men's soccer title is on the line. Lynchburg earned its 17th overall ODAC men's soccer trophy on Sunday afternoon in the Hill City as the Hornets defeated Guilford College, 5-1, on Shellenberger Field. The title is the program's first since winning two straight in 2016 and 2017. Since the ODAC instituted a tournament format for men's soccer in 1989, Lynchburg teams have qualified for the championship game 10 times. Sunday's triumph marked the Hornets seventh victory in those contests. That includes four wins in five opportunities since 2014. Lynchburg is one of two teams to boast double figure conference men's soccer trophies with its 17 awards out-pacing the 10 earned by Virginia Wesleyan University.

Kenny Nzekwe converted Guilford's fourth and deciding penalty kick nearly five hours after the Quakers semifinal affair against Roanoke began, advancing the home team to its first ODAC men's soccer title game berth following a 1-1 draw thru regulation and a pair of overtime periods.

Manzi Shalita scored the game-winning goal 5:02 into the first overtime period to propel fourth-seeded Lynchburg to the ODAC title game with a 2-1 extra win at top-seeded Hampden-Sydney on Friday evening.

The is an ODAC record 15th for the Hornets and their second in the last three years.

There was a flair for the dramatic Saturday afternoon on Shellenberger Field where the Lynchburg men's soccer grinded its way to 1-0 overtime victory over Randolph-Macon. Senior forward Ben Grossfuss sent a cross to junior forward Collin Kashmer who let the ball settle off of his chest before firing the game winning goal that beat the Yellow Jacket keeper to the lower left corner to put the Hornets in the ODAC Championship game.

The top-seeded Washington and Lee men's soccer team totaled three second-half goals en route to a 4-2 victory over fifth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament on Saturday. With the win, the Generals (14-3-2) advanced to the ODAC Championship on Sunday at Watt Field.

Josh Hinkle scored the only goal of the game in the second half to help the Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeat Roanoke College 1-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship game on Saturday. The second-seeded Hornets defeated the top-seeded Maroons to advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2010.

Roanoke led 1-0 at the half, but an early second-half goal from Washington and Lee University tied the score 1-1. The Maroons responded with four second-frame tallies, defeating the Generals, 5-1, to advance in the ODAC Tournament. RC will host the men's soccer championship on Saturday in Salem at a time yet to be determined.

Lynchburg College and Virginia Wesleyan College played to a 2-2 tie thru 110 minutes of action. Penalty kicks proved the deciding factor. LC made its first three spot-kicks while VWC shooters hit the post once and were denied twice by Hornets keeper Cory Budka, affording LC a 3-0 shootout win and a trip to the ODAC title game. Lynchburg will square off with Roanoke College on Saturday in Salem at a time yet to be determined.

Virginia Wesleyan senior Brian Cornell converted a penalty kick just 1:43 into overtime as the Marlins topped Randolph, 2-1, on Saturday evening in the ODAC Men's Soccer Tournament championship game. The title marks the 10th in VWC program history and its first since 2008. The victory also awards the Marlins the ODAC's automatic entry into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.

For the second time in three years, WildCat Stadium will be site of the ODAC championship game. Randolph (17-1-1) had defeated this Washington & Lee (10-4-5) team eight days ago by a score of 4-0 on the same field, but with the stakes being higher and the return of All-ODAC performer Zach Colby for the Generals, most expected a closer game.

Tierce scored with 59-seconds to play in double-overtime to unlock a scoreless draw and earn Roanoke College its ninth ODAC men's soccer title with a 1-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan College in the conference championship game on Saturday. The Maroons earn the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, which is scheduled to begin next week. The selection show is set for 1:00 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.

The Marlins bested the Generals, 3-1, in the deciding penalty kick shootout, advancing VWC to its first ODAC title game since 2008. The Marlins will travel to Roanoke for a shot at their 10th men's soccer championship on Sunday.

The Randolph College men’s soccer team, in only its fifth season of existence, reached the top of the ODAC Saturday earning its first ever conference crown with a 2-1 victory over Lynchburg College in action from WildCat Stadium. The WildCats will make their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament next week.

Ryan Renfro made his first two goals of the season count Wednesday evening as the sixth-seeded Lynchburg upset #2 Eastern Mennonite University, 2-1, in an ODAC Tournament semifinal on Wednesday. LC will meet Randolph in a cross-town contest on Saturday at Randolph for the ODAC championship.

Lynchburg junior Ryan Renfro scored two goals as the Lynchburg's men's soccer team defeated Hampden-Sydney for the OdAC title by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. The championships marks the second straight for LC and sends the Hornets into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The ODAC men’s soccer semifinals featured a come-from-behind win, a new ODAC career record and penalty kicks in determining the two teams that will play in the 2009 ODAC Men’s Soccer Tournament championship game. Lynchburg College scored twice in the second half to defeat Hampden-Sydney College, 2-1, in Hampden-Sydney. Roanoke College advanced 4-2 on penalty kicks at Virginia Wesleyan College after the two squads battled to a 1-1 tie through 110 minutes of play.

The Hampden-Sydney soccer team knocked off the Generals of Washington & Lee University today by a score of 3-0 to advance to the ODAC semifinals. With the win, the Tigers' record improves to 16-3-0, which is the most wins ever for a Hampden-Sydney soccer team. It was also the Tigers' remarkable 11th shutout of the season which also sets a new school record.
