2023 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championship News


March 2, 2023
The ODAC indoor track & field coaches continued the awards process following the 2023 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships by selecting special individual honors to pair with the top-three finishers in each event to finalize the 2023 All-ODAC Indoor Track & Field Awards. Virginia Wesleyan University jumper Geni Roberts was selected as the ODAC Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Meet for a second straight season, while University of Lynchburg standout Aniya Seward garnered ODAC Indoor Women's Field Athlete of the Meet laurels. Bridgewater College sprinter Adalia Coleman picked up her second straight ODAC Indoor Women's Track Athlete of the Meet plaque and was joined by Lynchburg distance runner Frank Csorba as the ODAC Indoor Men's Track Athlete of the Meet. Lynchburg mentor Jim Sprecher was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year in both sports for a second straight season. Lynchburg colors are donned by both ODAC Rookies of the Meet in mid-distance/distance runners Hailey Smith and Chasen Hunt. On Sunday, Washington and Lee mid-distance runners Parker Hawk and Zach Moore were announced as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Indoor Track & Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Consecutive streaks are now active for both of the University of Lynchburg's indoor track & field programs as the Hornets captured both the ODAC men's and women's titles following two days of competition at the 2023 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Roanoke College's Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse. Lynchburg's women's team donned its fourth straight league crown with 181.0 points. The Hornets out-paced second place Washington and Lee University (130.0) and third place Roanoke (106.50), both of which eclipsed 100 total points. Lynchburg's men made it two straight ODAC titles with 169.0 points. It was the lone school to crack the century mark with Bridgewater College posting 98.0 marks and W&L chiming in third with 95.50 tallies.

We said records were in jeopardy prior to the start of day one at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The record book has indeed been impacted. Shenandoah thrower Kiara Felston and University of Lynchburg hurdler and jumper Aniya Seward each took down two records as part of a half-dozen new benchmarks set at the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse at Roanoke College on Saturday. Felston's teammate Tucker Kindig gave SU a second event winner and record-breaker, while Frank Csorba did the same for Lynchburg.

2022 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championship News

Fresh off a successful and exciting championship meet hosted at Roanoke College, the ODAC indoor track & field coaches have made their final choices to complete the 2021-22 All-ODAC Indoor Track & Field Awards. Virginia Wesleyan University jumpers Jaylyn Lane and Geni Roberts were selected as the ODAC Indoor Women's and Men's Field Athletes of the Meet, respectively. Bridgewater College sprinter Adalia Coleman earned ODAC Indoor Women's Track Athlete of the Meet laurels, while University of Lynchburg mid-distance runner Sam Llaneza collected ODAC Indoor Men's Track Athlete of the Meet recognition. Hornets mentor Jim Sprecher was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year in both sports. Washington and Lee University is home to both the ODAC Women's and Men's Rookies of the Year in sprinter Katelyn Gamble and distance runner Josh Fingerhut.

The first ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships since 2020 featured nine broken men's records and a sweep of the team titles as the University of Lynchburg capped two days in Roanoke College's Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse by lifting both league trophies. The Hornets collected 194.0 points in the women's team standings to out-pace second place Washington and Lee University (119.50) and third place Roanoke (104.50). Lynchburg's men earned 170.0 points to rank ahead of second place W&L (95.0) and third place Bridgewater College (77.0). Lynchburg, which has won an ODAC-best 29 men's indoor titles, enjoys its first men's championship since donning 17 consecutive crowns from 1998 through 2014. Lynchburg's women's program increases its league record mark to 12 championships with its third straight piece of conference hardware.

It's been two years for ODAC indoor track & field fans to see their favorites athletes in action at a conference championship, but the wait is over with the return of the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, February 26-27, in Salem, Va. ODAC competitors return to the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse for two days of competition. The schedule is a bit altered from past championships with this year's affair starting earlier on Saturday. Field events begin at 12:00 p.m. ET with the first running event slated for 3:30 p.m. ET. Action continues on Sunday with field events at 11:00 a.m. ET and track events at 2:30 p.m. ET.

2020 ODAC Indoor Track Championship News

A half-dozen new records were set and eight events featured repeat champions as ODAC student-athletes completed two days of competition at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Washington and Lee University captured its fourth straight and 10th overall men's team title, while the University of Lynchburg hoisted its second straight and ODAC-best 11th women's team trophy.

For the first time in conference history, the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will cover two days as league teams converge on Salem for this season's conference meet. Roanoke College's Kerr-Cregger Field House will serve as the host venue for a fourth consecutive season. The two-day 32-event affair begins at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 29 with a limited slate of events. Action continues on Sunday, March 1 with field events beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET and track events joining the fray at 2:30 p.m. ET.

2019 ODAC Indoor Track Championship News

Six records fell and eight competitors repeated as event champions following a banner day of competition at the 2019 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Roanoke College at the Kerr-Cregger Field House on Saturday. Washington and Lee University collected its third straight men's team title, while the University of Lynchburg returned to the women's winners' circle for the first time since 2011 with an ODAC record 10th league crown.

2018 ODAC Indoor Track Championship News


February 25, 2018
It came down to the wire on the men's side of the ledger, but by Sunday's end the same two schools stood at the top of the podum for the second straight year after 32 events at the 2018 ODAC Indoor Track Championships. Bridgewater College captured its fifth straight women's crown, while Washington and Lee University collected 33 points over the final two events to win by four points over Bridgewater and secure its second men's title in as many seasons.

Last season, ODAC indoor track athletes took to the new Kerr-Cregger Field House at Roanoke College like it had been a regular conference venue for a full history of meets with 13 combined overall and championship records falling and a sea of personal-bests established. We could be in for more of the same on Sunday as conference member schools return to Salem for the 2018 ODAC Indoor Track Championships.

Bridgewater College may not have swept the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championship titles for the third straight season, but the Eagles still tasted victory with the BC women capturing a fourth straight conference championship. Washington and Lee University pushed thru on the men's side, hoisting its seventh overall ODAC trophy and first since 1989.

The ODAC Indoor Track Championships head to a new facility this weekend as Roanoke College opens its campus to league programs for the conference championships conducted on a member school championship in several years. The new Kerr Cregger Field House in the Cregger Center welcomes ODAC competitors for a full day of indoor action on Sunday.

2016 ODAC Indoor Track Championship News


February 28, 2016
Bridgewater took home both ODAC indoor track & field team trophies for the second straight year on Sunday evening, completing a sweep that featured five women's and four men's gold medals. The Eagles' men collected 166 points with Washington and Lee picking up 115.5 markers as runner-up. The women's ranks were much tighter, with BC outpacing W&L by just two points, 135 to 133.

After two straight seasons at a new venue, the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships return to a familiar facility as the Prince George's SportsPlex in Landover, Md., prepares to welcome the conference's student-athletes on Sunday. Shenandoah University takes up the mantle as the host school for the championship, which includes 16 events for each of the men's and women's ranks.

2015 ODAC Indoor Track Championship News

For the second straight season, the ODAC Indoor Track Championships will be competed at a new location. The Prince George's SportsPlex in Landover, Md., will serve as this seasons venue, with Shenandoah University playing host to conference schools on Sunday, March 1. Athletes will compete in 16 events over the course of the day, beginning with jumps and throws at noon followed by running events at 2:00 p.m.

One streak was snapped and another was started at the 2015 ODAC Indoor Track Championships, hosted by Shenandoah University at Prince George's SportsPlex in Landover, Md. Bridgewater College turned a double in the team standings, winning both the men's and women's crowns. The Eagles' triumph on the women's side is their second overall and second straight title, while their victory in men's ranks marks their fifth overall and first since 1997. It also snapped a streak of 17 straight championships won by Lynchburg College.

The 2014 ODAC Indoor Track Championships travel east to the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va., on Sunday as the conference's men's and women's squads move away from its previous meet site, the Tolsma Indoor Track Center at Liberty University. Athletes will compete in 16 events over the course of the day beginning with throws and jumps at 9:00 a.m. and running events at 2:00 p.m.

Lynchburg College out-paced Bridgewater College, 154-118, to claim its 28th overall and 17th straight ODAC men's indoor track championship on Sunday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. The Hornets won a meet-best seven events and were involved in three of the five records established on the day. Washington and Lee University round out the top three with 80 points.

March 2, 2014
Bridgewater College won four events en route to racking up 125 team points to win its first ODAC women's indoor track title on Sunday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, Va. Roanoke College, which also won four events, finished second with 97 points, while Lynchburg College and Washington and Lee University tied for third with 90 points, combining for six top finishes.

2013 ODAC Indoor Track Championship News

LC ran away with its 27th overall and 16th straight ODAC Men’s Indoor Track Championships title, but it took a meet-record finish in the championships’ last event for RC to secure its ninth overall and second straight ODAC Women’s Indoor Track Championships crown. The Hornets’ victory increases its program record of overall triumphs, while the RC success ties LC for the most women’s ODAC hardware.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) is scheduled to host its Indoor Track Championships at Liberty University’s Tolsma Indoor Track Center on Friday, February 23. Competition in the field events begins at noon with the track events starting at 3pm. The championship runs through Friday evening and concludes with the awards ceremony scheduled for approximately 9:30pm.

Liberty University's Tolsma Indoor Track Center will be a popular ODAC attraction on Friday as conference teams compete in the 2012 ODAC Indoor Track Championships. Competition in the 15-event affair begins at 1:00 p.m. and continues through the awards ceremony at 9:00 p.m.

In its attempt to repeat as dual champion, Lynchburg secured the 2012 men's championship at the 2012 ODAC Indoor Track Championships on Friday evening. Roanoke denied the Hornets back-to-back double as the Maroons topped the women's team standings. Washington and Lee was second in both competitions.

Lynchburg College claimed both the men’s and women’s crown on Friday evening in the 2011 ODAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.  The Hornets earned 163 total points for the men’s title and the women accumulated 161 total points for the championship.

The 2011 Men’s and Women’s ODAC Indoor Track Championship Meet will be hosted by Lynchburg College this Friday, February 25, in Lynchburg, Virginia at Liberty University’s Tolsma Center. Field events begin at 1:00 p.m. with the first track events taking place at 4:00 p.m.
