Bridgewater Names Spector New Volleyball Coach

Succeeds Heishman as Program's Mentor

BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Bridgewater College athletics director announced Friday that Greg Spector has been named the new women's volleyball head coach.

Spector becomes just the second coach in the program's history. He succeeds Mary Frances Heishman who started the volleyball program in 1975. Coach Heishman retired as volleyball coach following the 2007 season.

Spector brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Bridgewater position. He has coached at various levels, include college, high school, club and international teams.

In 2008, Spector was the head women's volleyball coach for Maccabi USA Sports and recruited nationally for top-level players to play at the international level. He served as the team's assistant coach in 2001.

From 2003-2005, Spector was an assistant coach at Division I Marshall University where he worked specifically with middle hitters and blocking. Prior to that position, he was an assistant women's volleyball coach at Urbana University, a Division III university in Ohio.

Prior to accepting the Bridgewater job, Spector was owner and director of recruiting for Indy Juniors Volleyball Club in Indianapolis.

Spector received a bachelor of science degree in applied sciences kinesiology from San Diego State University. He received his master of education degree in 2003 from Urbana University.
