ODAC Players of the Week: Oct. 12

ODAC Players of the Week: Oct. 12

Only a few weeks remain before the beginning of the ODAC fall championships, and standings are starting to take shape.  Randolph College and goalkeeper Aaron Humphreys (above) helped out the WildCats postseason cause with a pair of shutouts in a win over Guilford and a scoreless tie with Virginia Wesleyan.  Humphreys made 12 saves in the latter contest, helping even Randolph's ODAC record at 2-2-2.

Cross country saw Bridgewater athletes Jordan White and Molly Smith sweep the honors for the second time this season.  White recorded his fourth win in as many races at the Juniata College Invitational, while Smith crossed the finish line third in the women's edition of that event.

Mary McCarthy tallied four times for Randolph-Macon field hockey last week.  She scored twice in a 4-1 win over Stevenson, and later added two more tallies and an assist in a 5-1 triumph over Roanoke College.

Fellow Jacket Amanda Nelms secured her second ODAC weekly award of the season in women's soccer.  Nelms scored three goals over a pair of R-MC wins.  She scored once in a 4-0 shutout of Sweet Briar, and then added both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory over Emory & Henry College.

Kristi Stevens kept the Washington and Lee offense flowing as Generals' volleyball went 5-0 last week, including a win over ODAC foe Lynchburg and four victories at the Averett Invitational.  Stevens averaged 9.5 assists during those four tourney contests, while also knocking down eight kills in 13 chances without an error.
