ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: January 31, 2011

INDOOR TRACK
JAMES BELL, Lynchburg, Junior
Bell, a junior from Huddleston, Va., set a new ODAC seasonal top time in the pole vault at the Liberty Open & Multi's this weekend. He cleared 15'9" to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, finishing second overall in the event to an unattached competitor.

INDOOR TRACK
JESSICA GIBBS, Lynchburg, Senior
Gibbs, a senior from Lancaster, Pa., was the first NCAA Division III finisher and placed third overall in the pentathlon with 3,212 points, which eclipsed the provisional qualifying mark (3,000 points) for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Her best showings in the five-event discipline came in the 800-meter run and long jump, in which she placed second (2:27.72) and third (16'9.75"), respectively.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
NATE CAMPBELL, Lynchburg, Junior, Forward
Campbell, a junior from Cary, N.C., led Lynchburg to a pair of victories last week. The Hornets, winners of three straight, defeated Hampden-Sydney and Johnson and Wales on the road. Campbell shot 75 percent from the floor (18-for-24) for the week while averaging 21.5 points a game in the two victories. He notched 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting (5-of-6 from the line) to go with six boards and a pair of steals. He continued his hot touch with 22 points on 10-of-12 from the field, also connecting on both his attempts from the foul stripe.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
JORDAN BURKHOLDER, Bridgewater, Senior, Forward
Burkholder, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., picks up her third ODAC weekly honor this season, her first since the turn over the calendar. Burkholder averaged 26.5 points per game and became Bridgewater's all-time leading scorer on Friday night in Lynchburg as she led the Eagles to a 2-0 week in ODAC play. On Tuesday night against EMU, Burkholder drained 8-of-16 shots from the field and was 14-of-14 from the stripe to lead the Eagles offense with 30 points on the night. On Friday night in Lynchburg, Burkholder survived a slow start before knocking in six of her last nine shots, including a layup with 11:15 to play which put her atop the career scoring list with her 1,600th career point. On the week, Burkholder recorded a dozen steals as well, including seven against Lynchburg. She finished 21-of-22 (.955) from the foul line while also averaging 4.5 rebounds per game.

SWIMMING
TRACILYN BABINGTON, Randolph-Macon, Freshman
Babington, a freshman from Hillsboro, Ohio, earns her second straight ODAC weekly honor after helping the Yellow Jackets to a 140-122 win over Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Babington placed first in each of four events in which she competed on Saturday. She opened the meet with a relay win in the 400-yard medley (4:13.96). Babington then broke the Randolph-Macon College record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.50 for her first individual win of the day, which also set an ODAC seasonal top time. Babington picked up another individual win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.14) and finished the day as part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:46.26).
