ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: February 7, 2011

 

INDOOR TRACK
ERIC VAN BRUNK, Lynchburg, Sophomore
Van Dunk, a sophomore from Mahwah, N.J., narrowly missed joining Lynchburg's all-time list in the shot put with a heave of 47'6.25" at VMI this weekend. He finished second overall in the event and first among NCAA Division III athletes. His throw was also a new ODAC season-best mark.

INDOOR TRACK
CAITLIN WALTON, Lynchburg, Freshman
Walton, a freshman from Richmond, Va., paced the Hornets at VWI in the pole vault by clearing 10'10" to place fourth overall. She was the top NCAA Division III athlete, and set a new ODAC set best mark so far this year.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
TODD PHILLIPS, Eastern Mennonite, Senior, Forward
Phillips, a senior from Waynesboro, Va., averaged 20.5 points in two games last week, connecting on 57% of his shots. The senior forward also was 4-of-10 from three point range. Phillips put in 22 points in Wednesday’s win at Lynchburg as he was 9-18 from the floor. Saturday, despite getting in foul trouble early in the game, he still tied for the team lead in points by halftime and led all scorers with 19 in the win. He dropped in 8-of-12 shots and added six rebounds in the win over Randolph. Phillips is second in the ODAC in scoring at 18.8 per game. He is also in the ODAC’s top ten in free throws, free throw percentage, assists, steals and blocks.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
TAYLOR WIECZOREK, Randolph-Macon, Junior, Center
Wieczorek, a junior from Grasonville, Md., recorded double-doubles in each of three victories from Randolph-Macon as the Yellow Jackets extended their winning streak to 12 games. Wieczorek opened the week with a career day in which she notched 21 points and an ODAC season-high 19 rebounds in a win over Eastern Mennonite. She connected on 10-of-12 field goals and added two assists, a pair of blocked shots and a steal. She followed that up with 11 points and 14 boards in a win at Guilford, and finished the week with 10 points and 10 rebounds at Emory & Henry. For the week, Wieczorek averaged 14.3 points and 14.3 rebounds while also hitting all six of her foul shot.
