ODAC Players of the Week

FOOTBALL
TYLER HOUK, Emory & Henry, Junior, Defensive Back
Houk, a junior from Galax, Va., led all ODAC tacklers with 15 stops this past weekend against Washington and Lee, including seven solo stops. Houk also came away with a big takeaway for the Wasps' defense. Down 7-0 in the third quarter with the Generals driving, Houk came down with an interception in the E&H end zone to squander a W&L possession that began on their own 12-yard line. The pick marked the second interception of the season for Houk. He is seventh in the ODAC in tackles with 44.

FOOTBALL
ZAC NACCARATO, Randolph-Macon, Freshman, Quarterback
Naccarato, a freshman from Spotsylvania, Va., had his best day as a Yellow Jacket signal-caller as he led R-MC to a 51-34 victory Friday night at Catholic University. Naccarato completed nearly 81-percent of passes in going 25-of-31 for 372 yards and four touchdowns, all career-highs and ODAC weekly highs. Naccarato threw three of his four touchdowns to Christian Cook, who hauled in 13 passes for 212 yards. He threw a pair of six-yard scoring strikes, one each to Cook and Vance Hendren (7 for 104), but his other two scoring passes covered 95 combined yards via 29 and 66-yard touchdowns to Cook. Naccarato is currently fourth in the ODAC in passing yardage (1,071) and touchdown passes (8).

FIELD HOCKEY
LINDSAY LEONARD, Lynchburg, Junior, Attack
Leonard, a junior from Yorktown, Va., earns her fourth weekly award of the 2011 season after notching five goals in a pair of victories for the Hornets this past week. Leonard opened the week with four goals in a 10-0 victory over ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan. She followed that up with a tally in a 4-0 win against York College (Pa.). Leonard leads the #4 Hornets and the ODAC in points (44), goals scored (19) and shots taken (120). Entering last week's games, Lynchburg was tops in the country in goals scored per game (5.3) and scoring margin (4.6). Leonard was tied for seventh in points per game (3.4) and 11th in goals per game (1.4).

MEN'S SOCCER
MITCHELL LEAP, Eastern Mennonite, Senior, Forward
Leap, a senior from Harrisonburg, Va., collects his second weekly award of the season after having a hand in a pair of game-winning goals for the ODAC-leading Royals. In Wednesday’s win over Hampden-Sydney, Leap assisted on Muoka Musau’s game-winning goal in the 68th minute. Then on Saturday against Guilford, Leap scored the game-winner in the 77th minute on a breakaway shot from the top of the 18-yard box. He is tied for second in the ODAC with eight goals and second with 18 points. Leap tops the league with five game-winning goals. The forward is also on top of all three categories in ODAC-only games.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
EMILY LEARY, Washingotn and Lee, Senior, Goalkeeper
Leary, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, posted two shutouts on the week, including a 3-0 win over Hollins on Tuesday and a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Lynchburg College on Saturday. During the match against Lynchburg, Leary came up with a key save in the 109th minute after LC was awarded a penalty kick after one of its players was taken down on the edge of the Generals box. Leary made a diving save to her left, preserving the scoreless draw. This season, Leary leads the ODAC in goals against (1), goals-against average (0.08) and save percentage (.957), while also posting 10 shutouts. Currently, she has 33 career shutouts, just one short of tying the career record at W&L (Kiki Moreo ’08, 34). As of last week’s NCAA national statistics, Leary ranked second in the nation in goals-against average (0.098) and fourth in save percentage (.944).

VOLLEYBALL
M.A. BOLES, Washington and Lee, Sophomore, Outside Hitter
Boles, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, led the Generals to a 5-0 week, including a 4-0 record in the Maroon Classic in which she was named Most Valuable Player. Boles totaled 51 kills (3.6/set), 43 digs (3.1/set) and added three service aces and six total blocks. She registered 11 kills, while adding 10 digs, in a 3-0 win over ODAC foe Emory & Henry. Boles pounded out 12 kills while pick up nine digs and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Averett. She followed that up with 18 kills and a .405 hitting percentage with 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Methodist and 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Southern Virginia. For the season, Boles is second in the ODAC with 274 total kills and 3.70 kills per game. Her .295 hitting percentage is fourth.

CROSS COUNTRY
TIM SMITH, Roanoke, Senior
Smith, a senior from Roanoke, Va., picks up his third weekly award of the season running for the Maroons' harriers. Smith claimed his third meet victory by winning the blue race at the DeSales Invitational in Center Valley, Pa. Smith completed the eight-kilometer course in 26:05, topping a field of 220 runners. The DeSales Invitational is a multi-race event that featured 45 teams and 448 total runners. When all men's results were combined, Smith placed fourth overall.

CROSS COUNTRY
GRACE ENGLAND, Roanoke, Junior
England, a freshman from Dublin, Va., captures her third weekly award of the season. England competed in the Red Race at the DeSales Invitational in Center Valley, Pa. She placed 17th with a time of 24:58.52 over the six kilometer course. The DeSales Invitational is a multi-race event that included 41 teams and 424 total athletes. When all results were combined, England finished 30th overall.
