ODAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

THRU WEEK PRIOR TO: NOVEMBER 23, 2011

MEN'S BASKETBALL
J.D. Ey, Washington and Lee, Junior, Forward
Ey, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., helped lead Washington and Lee to a 2-1 week with a pair of double-doubles and nearly a triple-double in the Generals first three games. W&L opened the season with a two-point win over Dickinson in which Ey led the way with 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting. He added 10 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. In another two-point win over reigning NECC champion Elms College, Ey notched 16 points and corralled an ODAC-best 21 rebounds to go with seven assists and two blocked shots. He capped his week with 10 points, six boards, two assists and a pair of blocked shots in a loss to fourth-ranked Amherts. For the week, Ey averaged 17.3 points and 12.3 rebounds to go with 3.0 assists and 2.0 blocked shots.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Kristen Blalock, Virginia Wesleyan, Senior, Center
Blalock, a senior from Suffolk, Va., picked up where she left off in 2011 as she led Virginia Wesleyan to a victory over N.C. Wesleyan in their opening game of the season. Blalock notched 24 points to go with five rebounds, a pair of blocked shots and a steal to help the Marlins secure the 125th career win for head coach Stephany Dunmyer. The 2011 All-ODAC First Team center connected on 9-of-16 field goals, including 1-of-2 three-pointers, and hit 5-of-8 free throws.

SWIMMING
Sarah Almond, Randolph-Macon, Senior
Almond, a senior from Estes Park, Colo., secured 42 individual points in leading Randolph-Macon to the 2011 Yellow Jacket Invitational team title. Almond earned one event victory, placed second in two others, and participated in three second-place relays and one other that tied for first. She won the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.35) and added to her individual showing with second place finishes in the 50-yard free (25.20) and the 100-yard free (54.21). Almond and her teammates tied for first in the 200-yard free relay (1:41.56) and touched the walled seond in the 400-yard free (3:46.28), 800-yard free (8:31.81) and the 400-yard medley (4:19.33. relays.
