ODAC Players of the Week

INDOOR TRACK
Ian McDonald, Washington and Lee, So.,
Mid-Distance/Distance
McDonald, a sophomore from Richmond,
Va., competed in two events at the Denison Lid Lifter hosted by
Denison University. He finished second both times, tying a
Washington and Lee school-record in the process. He was the
runner-up in the 800-meter run, matching the W&L standard with
a time of 1:57.46. It also ranks as the fastest in the ODAC this
season and 20th in NCAA Division III. He also ran the lead-leg of
the Generals' distance medley relay team that placed second in
11:00.07. It marks the first DMR run in the ODAC this season and
ranks 30th nationally.

INDOOR TRACK
Jillian Katterhagen, Washington and Lee,
Sr., Sprints/Jumps
Katterhagen, a senior from The
Woodlands, Texas, competed in four events athe Denison Lid Lifter
hosted by Denison University on Saturday. She posted the
second-fastest time in in the 60-meter hurdles in the ODAC this
season, posting a second-place time of 9.63-seconds. Her second
top-five showing came in the pole vault as she cleared 3.05 meters
(10' 0.0") to place third. Katterhagen then took to the track,
finishing eighth in the 200-meter dash in 27.99-seconds, which
ranks eighth in the ODAC. Her performance was capped by a 12th
place showing in the 60-meter dash in 8.55-seconds.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Matt McCarthy, Guilford, Sr.,
Guard
McCarthy, a senior from Rockville,
Md., helped Guilford extend its winning streak to four straight
games with a pair of conference wins. McCarthy skirted the lines of
a triple-double in a 74-54 triumph at Randolph. He was 8-of-12 from
the field, including 4-of-6 from deep, on the way to 20 points to
go with a career-best tying nine rebounds and seven assists. He
also registered a pair of steals. The game marked his third
straight with at least 20 points scored. He cashed out four more
three-pointers in a 71-56 win against Washington and Lee. He
finished with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, adding in
two more steals and a blocked shot. McCarthy is now third in
Guilford history in three-pointers made (229) and attempted (615).
He's currently seventh in the ODAC in scoring at 14.9 points per
game. He leads the conference in three-pointers made (54), is
second in steals (36) and seventh in free throw percentage
(80.7).

SWIMMING
Mohamed Saleh, Randolph-Macon,
So.
Saleh, a sophomore from Cairo, Egypt,
helped the Yellow Jackets to a dual meet victory over Catholic
University. He swam in four events for Randolph-Macon, winning each
discipline. He posted a time of 0:54.39 to touch the wall first in
the 100-yard backstroke. He duplicated the effort in the 100-yard
freestyle with a time of 0:49.40. Saleh already owned the
second-best time in the ODAC in both events this season. Saleh then
took to the relays, helping his teammates finish first in the
200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays in times of 1:39.63
and 3:18.86, respectively.

SWIMMING
Megan Monahan, Sweet Briar,
So.
Monahan, a sophomore from Cincinnati,
Ohio, helped the Vixens to a pair of dual meet wins against ODAC
competition. She competed in seven total events, winning four times
individually and three times in relays. Each of her individual
times rank inside the ODAC's top-15 in each respective event. In a
166-36 win over Hollins, Monahan touched first in the 800-meter
freestyle in 10:22.00. She went on to help her teammates to first
place showings in the 400-meter medley (5:14.31) and 800-meter
freestyle (10:02.00) relays. Monahan helped supply the winning
points in a 142-120 win over Bridgewater. After winning both the
100-meter (1:11.94) and 200-meter (2:38.15) backstroke events, she
added the 400-meter freestyle to her performance, winning the
discipline in 4:55.82. She also helped the Vixens to top prize in
the 400-meter medley relay (4:59.91).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Emily Perszyk, Washington and Lee, Fr.,
Guard
Perszyk, a freshman from Greendale,
Wis., helped the Generals to a pair of conference wins to move
within one game of the top spot in the ODAC standings. Perszyk
buried nine three-pointers on the week, bringing her season total
to 34 -- the most at W&L since Meg Ingram connected on 66 in
2012. Perszyk notced a game-best 22 points in a 64-49 win at
Randolph. She nailed 6-of-10 from deep, making five of those shots
(including three straight possessions) during a decisive 25-10 run
over the final 10 minutes to defeat the WildCats. She added four
rebounds and two steals to her totals. In a 83-72 home win over
Virginia Wesleyan, Perszyk connected on 3-of-4 from long distance,
finishing with 11 points and two rebounds to help the Generals to
their seventh win in eight games. Perszyk is averaging 9.4 points
per game. Her 34 made three-pointers rank fifth in the ODAC, while
she's eighth in three-point percentage (37.0).
