ODAC Athletes of the Week | Basketball

FOREST, Va. --- The Thanksgiving holiday limited the amount of contests ODAC schools competed in during week 13 with action only taking place on the hardwood. Earning this week's ODAC Basketball Player of the Week awards are Washington and Lee guard Megan Horn and Randolph-Macon forward Miles Mallory.

Below are entries for both winners from today's release. Most weeks this winter, the following schedule will be used for awards reporting:

  • Mondays: basketball, swimming
  • Tuesdays: indoor track & field (once the season begins)

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Miles Mallory | Randolph-Macon | Jr. | Forward
Mallory, a junior from Beltsville, Md., picks up his second weekly award after helping nationally top-ranked Randolph-Macon to a 1-1 showing against strong competition at the CNU Classic. Mallory averaged 19.5 points and 13.5 rebounds with seven blocked shots and six assists over the two contests. He shot 51.4-percent (18-of-35) from the field overall. Mallory opened with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 78-58 triumph over nationally 24th-ranked New Jersey City University. He was 5-of-7 from the field and added two assists and two blocked shots. He then posted career-highs of 28 points and 17 rebounds in a 77-76 overtime loss to the host Captains, who are receiving votes towards the D3hoops.com Top-25. He was 13-of-28 from the field and dished out four assists with five blocked shots and a steal. For the season, Mallory leads the ODAC in total rebounds (72), offensive boards (22), and blocked shots (17). He is second in rebounding (10.3 rpg) and seventh in scoring (18.0 ppg). He has registered three double-doubles this season.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Megan Horn | Washington and Lee | Sr. | Guard
Horn, a senior from Basking Ridge, N.J., earns her first weekly award of the season after leading Washington and Lee to a 73-68 victory over previously unbeaten Mary Washington on Tuesday. Horn dropped in 17 points with six on 6-of-16 shooting and 4-of-5 from the foul line. She added seven rebounds to go with three assists, two steals, and a blocked shot in 33 minutes on the floor. The victory extended the Generals' program-record home winning streak to 12 straight games. For the season, Horn is seventh in the ODAC at 14.2 points per game while averaging 6.4 rebounds per contest.
