
FOREST, Va. --- ODAC winter athletes started gearing up for ODAC championship competition in week 22 as the calendar prepares to turn to February. Performances remained at a high level, foreshadowing a strong end-of-season and postseason for all ODAC fans to enjoy. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards for Monday, January 31, include (pictured from left): Savy Borroughs from Lynchburg women's swimming, Kate Kolb from Lynchburg women's basketball, Chris Jennings from Lynchburg men's swimming, and Buzz Anthony from Randolph-Macon men's basketball.
Below are entries for each of the winners from today's release. Most weeks this winter, the following schedule will be used for awards reporting:
- Mondays: basketball, swimming
- Tuesdays: indoor track & field

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Buzz Anthony | Randolph-Macon | Sr. | Guard
Anthony, a senior from Arnold, Md., led nationally top-ranked Randolph-Macon to a trio of ODAC victories last week to keep the Yellow Jackets atop the league table at 17-1 overall and 9-0 against conference opponents. Anthony average 18.3 points and 7.0 assists and a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio (21 assists, 6 turnovers) over the three outings. He opened with 20 points and 9 assists against just one miscue in an 80-51 win over Bridgewater. He was 7-of-9 from the field shooting including 2-of-2 from deep and went 4-of-4 from the foul line. He added two rounds to his stat line. Anthony then went for 15 points with nine more assists in an 83-63 victory at Hampden-Sydney. He again buried two three-pointers and went 5-for-5 from the stripe. He chipped in three rebounds and two steals. In the final game of the week, Anthony dropped in 20 points with four boards and three assists in a 77-72 triumph at Washington and Lee. He made four shots from beyond the arc and again was perfect from the foul line as he went 2-for-2 to make him 11-for-11 for the week. He added three steals and a blocked shot defensively. For the season, Anthony leads the ODAC with 111 assists and is second in three-pointers made (44-of-103) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3). He is fourth in free throw shooting (84.4% - 38-of-45) and fifth in scoring (18.9), points scored (302), and steals (30). He is sixth in field goals made (110-of-218) and three-point shooting (42.7%). Anthony has collected 673 career assists, ranking him second in program history and just seven shy of the ODAC record. He is now a .872 shooter from the foul line for his career, ranking him second in both R-MC and conference history.

MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Chris Jennings | Lynchburg | Sr.
Jennings, a senior from Tampa, Fla., picks up his first weekly award of the season after helping Lynchburg defeat Southern Virginia University, 145-116, on Senior Day. Jennings won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 0:58.77, which is third-fastest in the ODAC this season. He also captured the 100-yard freestyle gold medal with a time of 0:48.16. That slots 10th in the conference. Jennings joined his teammates in a pair of relays. He and Kevin Bennett, Parker Hayungs, and Will Kasemeyer won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:37.56. Jennings, Kasemeyer, Miles Fitzgerald, and Ryan Legge finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:29.01.

WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Savy Borroughs | Lynchburg | Fy.
Borroughs, a first-year from Stoughton, Wis., stood atop the podium four times in helping Lynchburg to a 210-51 victory over Southern Virginia University on Senior Day. Borroughs won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.77 and captured the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.07. Her 50-free time is seventh-fastest in the ODAC, while her 200-free time would rank inside of the top-20 as it sits short of a second behind her personal season-best time of 2:02.36, which is 15th in the league. Borroughs swam on a pair of winning relay teams. She hit the water third in a rotation with teammates with Erin Wojtkowski, Claire Galloway, and Corrinn Ford in winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.19. Borroughs swam the anchor leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay team, joining Lindsey Hair, Galloway, and Delaney Kennedy for a time of 1:53.83.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kate Kolb | Lynchburg | Sr. | Forward
Kolb, a senior from Morris Plains, N.J., helped Lynchburg to a 2-1 week against ODAC opponents by averaging 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 60.6-percent from the field over the three outings. Kolb, who has scored in double figures in seven of her last nine games, opened her week with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field in a 66-50 victory at Guilford. She was 5-of-7 from the line and added six rebounds with an assist. Kolb dropped in season-best 20 points in the Hornets 58-56 double-overtime setback at Bridgewater. She was 10-of-18 from the field and pulled down 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the year. She chipped in four steals defensively. Kolb capped her week with nine points and four blocked shots in a 71-70 last-second overtime triumph over Guilford, the Hornets second win of the week over the Quakers. She was 4-of-8 from the field and added three rebounds to her line. For the season, Kolb is averaging 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She is third in the ODAC in field goal shooting (54.2% - 58-of-107), seventh in blocked shots (16), and eighth in free throw shooting (74.4% - 32-of-43).
