FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Betty Boatwright | Washington and Lee | Fy. | Midfielder
Boatwright, a first-year from Washington, D.C., helped the nationally 18th-ranked Generals finish the season with a pair of ODAC victories to lock up the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Boatwright was on the mark twice in Washington and Lee's 5-2 comeback victory over 14th-ranked Shenandoah University. She knotted the game at 2-2 just 1:14 before the end of the first half after collecting a rebounded shot and sending a backhanded effort through a crowd and into the cage. Boatwright then put the Generals ahead, 3-2, 5:58 into the third period. Freddie Tobeason sent a shot from just inside the top of the circle towards Boatwright just in front of the keeper. She redirected the effort into the cage for the eventual game-winner. The win over SU and three-goal margin of victory proved the difference in securing the top seed in the ODAC Tournament after the application of league tiebreakers. Boatwright was again on the scoresheet twice in W&L's regular season-capping 3-0 win at Bridgewater. She assisted Peyton Tysinger on the second goal of the with 5:02 left in the second quarter. She then notched the third goal of the game 5:08 into the third quarter. For the season, Boatwright has collected 24 points on 10 goals and four assists. She has scored three goals that would be considered game-winning efforts.

Everett McCloskey | Virginia Wesleyan | So. | Midfielder
McCloskey, a sophomore from Douglassville, Pa., scored a pair of big goals over the Marlins regular season finale and their quarterfinal contest in the ODAC Tournament. In a 2-1 victory over Bridgewater to close the regular season and wrap up the #3 seed in the ODAC postseason, McCloskey scored the opener in 30th minute. He finished off a cross Ryan Taing via a sharp-angle shot to give Virginia Wesleyan a 1-0 lead that would carry into halftime. McCloskey's second goal of the week was much more dramatic as he scored the game-winner with just 41-seconds left in the second overtime period in the Marlins 2-1 win over Randolph-Macon in the ODAC quarterfinals. A cross from the right wing missed everyone before finding McCloskey 15 yards outside the back post. He took one touch to collect and hammer a shot back across goal for the winning tally. For the season, McCloskey has registered 13 points on five goals and three assists.

Shyenne Diaz | Virginia Wesleyan | Fy. | Forward
Diaz, a first-year from Virginia Beach, Va., ends her first collegiate regular season just like she began it with an ODAC weekly award following a four-goal week for Virginia Wesleyan. Diaz was on the mark three times for her first collegiate hat trick in the Marlins 4-1 victory over Randolph-Macon. She put VWU ahead, 2-1, in the 54th minute with the first of three straight unassisted efforts. She ran on to a headed-on throw-in and two-poked it into the upper netting above the keeper. Her final tally came 61 seconds later when she took a left-side throw-in with her back to goal, took two touches to create space and lashed a strike from 15 yards inside the front post. Diaz registered her final goal of the week as part of a 4-0 victory over Roanoke in the season finale. She scored the Marlins third goal 48-seconds into the second half via an unassisted effort.
