BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ricky Read, Bridgewater College
Read, a senior from Goode, Va., hit for a .500 average on the week, going 10-for-20 over five games played.  In conference play, Read was 7-for-11 with six RBI in three wins.  In a double-header against Randolph-Macon, he was 6-for-8 with two runs bated in and a homer.  He also went 1-for-3  against Eastern Mennonite with four runs driven in.  For the week. Read knocked in six runs while scoring a pair himself. 

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Chase Davidson, Roanoke College
Davidson, a senior from Vinton, Va., pitched eight-innings of four-hit ball to get the victory in Roanoke's win over Guilford on Friday.  In his only start of the week. Davidson allowed just four hits while striking out three batters.  The victory marked his third of the season, evening his record at 3-3. 

Baseball Honor Roll
Nolan Shaffer, Bridgewater Went seven innings while giving up four hits and two runs while striking out 10 in a win over EMU.
Phil Drew, Guilford Went 2-for-4 with his team-leading 14th double in a loss to Roanoke.
Paul Keenan, Guilford Tossed seven innings giving up a pair of runs while scattering five hits and striking out five in a loss to Roanoke.
Eric O'Brien, Lynchburg Went 5-for-9 with a double and three RBI in a 1-2 week for the Hornets.
Jonathan Nichols, Lynchburg Earned a complete-game victory against HSC, going nine innings while allowing four hits and three runs... he also fanned seven batters.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Peter Latimer, Guilford College
Latimer, a freshman from Markinch, Scotland, won his first college tournament on the third hole of sudden-death playoff in the Emory Invitational at Smoke Rise Golf Club.  He posted the first top-10 finish of his college career with a 72-73-145 (+1) score in 36 holes of competition.  He finished tied with two others after the two rounds of regulation, and all three students shot even-par on the first and second playoffs on the 18th hole.  Latimer won the event with a par four on the third try while both of the others golfers carded bogey-fives.  Latimer helped Guilford place second among 14 teams and go 7-1 against teams ranked in the April Golf World/Nike poll.  The win marked the second victory for a Guilford student-athlete this season.

MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Harrington, Hampden-Sydney College
Harrington, a senior from Dallas, Texas, powered the 16th ranked Tigers to a big win over conference foe and 17th-ranked Washington & Lee, 6-5.  Harrington scored four of the six HSC tallies including three after Hampden-Sydney found itself down 4-1 after the first quarter of play.  Harrington leads the Tigers with 28 goals, a mark that puts him fifth in the conference at 2.33 goals per game. 

Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll
Ryan Cranston, Lynchburg Scored three times and assisted on three others as the Hornets defeated Randolph-Macon 11-3.
Brian Vierheller, Randolph-Macon Recorded 21 stops in the care for RMC in its loss to Lynchburg.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Amanda Hutchins, Roanoke College
Hutchins, a junior from Guilford, Conn., scored eight goals and had an assist in the Roanoke's two ODAC wins last week.  She scored five times in the team's win over Bridgewater, and then netted three goals and an assist in the home win over Virginia Wesleyan.  Hutchins leads the Maroons with 24 goals scored, one of four players with at least 21 tallies.  She is eighth in the conference at 2.0 goals scored per game. 

Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll
Traci Phipps, Randolph-Macon Scored four goals and added two assists in a 17-6 victory over Lynchburg.
Meredith Newman, Sweet Briar Scored eight goals and dished out three assists in a 1-2 week for the Vixens... tallied three times apiece against Guilford and Bridgewater.
Kelsi Robinson, Washington & Lee Tallied a pair and assisted on four others in the Generals 18-3 win over Guilford.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Laura Barry, Bridgewater College
Barry, a junior from Richmond, Va., hit for a .500 average (10-for-20) during the week as the Eagles went 6-0 to improved to 30-4 on the season.  She had five multi-hit games during the week, scoring nine total runs.  In an ODAC double-header sweep of Randolph-Macon, Barry was 4-for-7 with three runs scored, four RBI, two homers and a double.  She knocked four doubles and a pair of homers on the week, giving her a 1.000 slugging percentage with 20 total bases in 20 at-bats. 

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jamie Fraysher, Eastern Mennonite University
Fraysher, a sophomore from Waterford, Va., along with Natasha Viafora, each pitched a no-hitter on Tuesday with Fraysher shutting out Shenandoah over five innings while allowing two walks and striking out five batters.  She then led EMU with another pitching gem against Virginia Wesleyan as she went seven innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits to pick up her 10th win of the season. 

Softball Honor Roll
Lisa Rhodes, Bridgewater Won three times last week, giving up 16 hits and two unearned runs in 16 innings work... also struck out 11 batters.
Nicole Shelton, Eastern Mennonite Drove in 10 runs in a 3-1 week, hitting 5-for-12 with five runs scored.
Dana Detmar, Emory & Henry Slammed a school record seventh homer of the season against Guilford... batted .417 for the week.
Shannon Harris, Emory & Henry Went 2-1 with 20 strikeouts in 13.2 innings of work... struck out 14 Guilford batters in 9 innings of work over two games against the Quakers.
Zenovia Hogue, Guilford Went 5-for-12 with a double, stolen base, a run scored and an RBI... hit the game-tying single in a 6-5 win over Meredith... hit safely in all five Guilford contests.
Taryn Pulvermuller, Guilford Won her third straight decision with seven strong innings against Meredith... tossed a career-high eight innings in a loss to E&H.
Dara Sandifer, Lynchburg Went 4-for-5 with a double, homer and five RBI in three games... boasted a .857 on-base percentage, a 1.600 slugging percentage and scored four runs.
Ali Manns, Lynchburg Threw six scoreless innings to defeat Ferrum 1-0 while striking out five... tossed an inning of relief while fanning a pair in a win over Sweet Briar.
Lyndsi Craig, Roanoke Earned a win and a save in Roanoke's sweep of E&H... went seven innings, fanning 10 while allowing only one hit to get the win... struck out 3-of-4 batters faced for the save.
Meagan Chenault, Sweet Briar Went 2-for-5 in a double-header against Lynchburg... scored a run and drove in another in the first game.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ian Koons, Eastern Mennonite University
Koons, a senior from Avvanadale, Va., went 3-0 last week against ODAC competition.  The Royals' #1 singles player defeated previously ranked Tim Ross of Washington & Lee on Sunday in three sets, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1) and 10-6.  He also earned victories over Bridgewater and Guilford College, both in straight sets.  With the results from the past week, Koons finished the season with an overall record of 9-4 and has a chance to become the first ranked player in EMU men's tennis this decade.

Ryan Smith & Brent Campbell, Bridgewater Completed their four-year run as doubles partners by going 12-0 through the 2007 regular season with a win over EMU last week.
Caleb Kimbrough, Guilford Went 2-1 at #2 singles, earning straight set victories against Eastern Mennonite and Roanoke.
William Moss, Hampden-Sydney Won his only #1 singles and doubles matches of the week against RMC, winning 6-0, 6-1 in singles and 8-0 in doubles.
Jon Malooly, Washington & Lee Went 2-0 at #2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0 against Guilford and Eastern Mennonite... also won 8-1 in doubles against Guilford.

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Blair Blincoe, Sweet Briar College
Blincoe, a freshman from Vienna, Va., ran her consecutive match winning streak to six contests with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 singles against Emory & Henry.  Her fifth match win of the streak came earlier in the week when she won 6-1, 6-0 against Lynchburg.  She also went 1-1 in double action, winning 8-1 against the Hornets.  Blincoe's steak also includes singles victories over Guilford, Randolph-Macon and Bridgewater.

Ginny Wortham, Washington & Lee Went 2-0 against E&H, winning at #2 singles and #2 doubles.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nathan Turner, Eastern Mennonite University
Turner, a sophomore from Elkton, Va., captured another shot put title while finishing in second place in the hammer throw at the Lynchburg Track Classic this past weekend.  Turner threw a distance of 15.46 meters in the shot while reaching a mark of 47.44 meters in the hammer throw. 

Men's Outdoor Track and Field Honor Roll
Justin Hazelrigg, Lynchburg Finished third in the hammer with a school record toss of 152-feet 1-inch in the Lynchburg Track Classic... also placed sixth in the discus (114' 8").
Bryan Hutcheson, Virginia Wesleyan Ran the 1,500 for the first time at Duke, setting the VWC record with a time of 4:24.36.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Dominique McCoy, Roanoke College
McCoy, a freshman from Williamsburg, Va., was named Field Athlete of the Meet at the Lynchburg Track Classic last weekend.  She won the long jump with a leap of 5.47 meters, and followed that up with a win in the triple jump with a mark of 10.81 meters.  She finished her day with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:10.19. 

Women's Outdoor Track & Field Honor Roll
Jill Wattai, Bridgewater Won the 100 (12.73) and 200 (26.49) and finished fourth in the long jump (15' 7.75") at Messiah... also ran a leg of the winning 4x100 team and second place 4x400 relay... her 100 time and the 4x100 time were second-bests in BC history.
Mary Mohay, Lynchburg Won the pole vault and qualified provisionally for nationals by clearing 11-feet 5.75-inches... also won the javelin (104' 6") at the LC Classic.
Elizabeth Webb, Washington & Lee Won the 1,500 meter (4:54.70) and placed second overall in the 3,000 (10:50.11) at Coastal Carolina against D-I and D-III competition.
