BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mike Lenox, Bridgewater College
Lenox, a junior from Fredericksburg, Maryland, hit .421 during the week to help the Eagles to a 5-0 record. Lenox was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI in a 3-2 victory over nationally-ranked CNU. He was also 2-for-4 with a run and RBI against Roanoke and closed the week with a 2-for-5 effort against Ferrum.  He finished the week with three multi-hit games and a pair of triples.  He scored a run in each contest, ending with six over the five games.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Jon Nichols, Lynchburg College
Nichols, a junior from Stafford, Virginia, tossed his best start of the season Wednesday against Hampden-Sydney, as he went eight innings allowing no runs. He also scattered five hits while walking one and striking out seven Tiger hitters.

Baseball Honor Roll

Casey Hartman, Bridgewater

Went seven inning twice in a pair of no decisions; fanned 13 in 14.1 innings of work, surrendering seven runs on 13 hits.

Jameson Jarvis, Eastern Mennonite

Went 6-for-14 with two homers and nine RBI in a 1-3 week for the Royals.

Jesse Baker, Eastern Mennonite

Picked up EMU's lone win of the week with seven strong innings, giving up three runs (one earned) and scattering eight hits; fanned three batters; also posted one scoreless inning of relief against BC.

Alex Starbuck, Guilford

Collected eight hits in 13 at-bats with four doubles, four runs scored and a pair of RBI.

Ryan Hairston, Guilford

Threw eight innings including all seven in game one of two vs. EMU; game up three earned runs and six hits while fanning seven and walking as many in his two appearances.

David Toney, Hampden-Sydney

Went 4-for-13 with a homer and six RBI in a 2-2 week for the Tigers.

John West, Hampden-Sydney

Tossed a complete game with seven shutout innings in a win over Ferrum; scattered eight hits and struck out three.

Daniel Haugh, Lynchburg

Went 3-for-4 against H-SC with two runs scored in a 9-0 win over the Tigers.

Charlie Hartt, Randolph-Macon Hit a pair of homers and drove in three runs in a 9-5 win over Virginia Wesleyan.
James Madden, Washington and Lee Went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and three RBI in a win over Shenandoah; his double in the top of the ninth drove in two and led to the victory.

MEN'S LACROSSE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Damian Becker, Virginia Wesleyan
Becker, a freshman from Lynbrook, New York, scored a career-high four goals to help lead VWC to a big 9-6 ODAC victory at Hampden-Sydney, the program's first win ever on the Tigers' field.  Becker scored one of VWC's first three goals as the Marlins took a 3-0 lead and tallied again with only two seconds remaining before halftime to give the Marlins a 5-2 edge.  He tacked on two more goals in the fourth quarter as VWC opened up a 9-5 lead.  Becker has scored at least one goal in each of VWC's last four games and is now the fourth-leading scorer with 11 goals and 16 points.  So far this season, Virginia Wesleyan has earned ODAC wins over both Roanoke and Hampden-Sydney, both of which were ranked in the top 20 in all of the major preseason polls. 

Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll

Andrew Vigne, Guilford

Made a game-high 15 saves and picked up a team-best four ground balls in a loss to Lynchburg.

Doug Carpenter, Hampden-Sydney

In a 1-1 week for the Tigers, scored four goals and notched an assist in each of two games; leads H-SC with 18 goals and 23 points.

Stephen Weis, Lynchburg In two wins for the Hornets, came away with eight goals and one helper.
Matt Quinton, Roanoke After being held scoreless in a loss to W&L, scored five times each in wins over R-MC and Hood; also had five assists for the week.
Adam Liberto, Randolph-Macon Made a career-high 22 saves in a loss to Roanoke.
Will Keigler, Washington and Lee Scored three goals and assisted on two others in the Generals 3-2 win over Roanoke.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Gina Valles, Roanoke College
Valles, a sophomore from South Windsor, Connecticut, scored 10 goals and added five assists in three games this week, going 2-1 and winning an ODAC game vs. Lynchburg.  She scored three goals and had four assists in the win over Hornets.  She also notched four goals in a victory over Frostburg St.   She capped her week with three goals and one assist in overtime loss to Christopher Newport, including the goal that would eventually put the Maroons into overtime.  She leads the team in scoring and goals this season. 

Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll

Lindsay Snyder, Bridgewater

Scored seven goals and dished out two assists in a 2-1 week for the Eagles.

Mary Hutchins, Guilford

In the Quakers' only action, scored five goals to lead GC to a 13-12 win over Randolph-Macon.

Patty Sheahan, Lynchburg

Scored three times in the Hornets' 15-4 loss to Roanoke.

Emily Kent, Randolph-Macon

Scored eight goals in three games for the Jackets over the week; notched a hat-trick in an 18-3 win over Bridgewater.

Stewart Hulfish, Sweet Briar Had a hand in each of the Vixens four goals in a loss to Washington and Lee; scored twice and assisted on the other two goals.
Kate Donnelly, Washington and Lee Scored four goals in the Generals 20-4 win over SBC.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kelsey Ruitenberg, Roanoke College
Ruitenberg, a sophomore from Geneva, Illinois, went 9-for-12 with four runs, two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI.  She also rapped out a slugging percentage of 1.667 and on-base percentage of .769.  Ruitenberg had 15 putouts with six assists and didn't commit an error.  She had 20 total bases in four games and batted .750.  She also won two games on the mound with one complete game.  In 12.2 innings of work, struck out 11 batters and allowed four earned runs.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Samantha Golley, Guilford College
Golley, a freshman from Street, Maryland, went 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA in two appearances.  She fanned 13 in 10.0 innings and limited opponents to a .121 batting average.  Golley leads Guilford with seven wins on the season.  She tossed a five-inning two-hitter in the Quakers' 9-1 win over Randolph, fanning a career-high nine batters in the win.  She did not allow an earned run in Guilford's 3-2 loss at Sweet Briar April 5.  Golley yielded two hits and struck out four.  She also enjoyed a solid week at the plate where she hit .583 in four games with seven hits and four RBIs.  She extended her hitting streak to a team-best 12 games. 

Softball Honor Roll

Jessica Sullivan, Eastern Mennonite

Went 5-for-11 with two doubles and six RBI in a 3-1 week for the Royals.

Jamie Fraysher, Eastern Mennonite

Picked up one victory last week, tossing seven total scoreless innings; she struck out four while allowing four hits over three appearances.

Amber Stapler, Guilford

Went 6-for-15 on the week with two doubles, a pair of triples and seven RBI.

Dara Sandifer, Lynchburg

Went 4-for-6 in a double-header sweep of Bridgewater with a homer and seven RBI.

Katie Bruce, Lynchburg

Fired a complete game six-hitter over five innings in an 8-0 win over Bridgewater.

Lindsay Cross, Randolph

Went 2-for-4 in a double-header with Guilford, knocking out one double.

Brittney Berry, Sweet Briar

In a double-header with Roanoke, went 3-for-6 with a double and three RBI.

MEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
William Moss, Hampden-Sydney College
Moss, a sophomore from Fredericksburg, Virginia, defeated Guilford No. 1 Jose Ortiz 6-0, 6-0 to lead the Tigers to their fifth conference victory. Moss teamed up with freshman Rich Pugh to score a 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, propelling Hampden-Sydney to the 8-1 win.  Moss is 7-2 at #1 singles this season, 5-0 in ODAC contests.

Went 1-1 at #4 singles and won his lone #2 doubles match last week.

WOMEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Caitlyn Mayton, Guilford College
Mayton, a senior from Lewiston, Idaho, won both singles' matches in the Quakers' 1-1 week... posted a straight-set win in her first second-singles action of the season versus Greensboro... scored the Quakers' lone point in Guilford's 8-1 loss to Roanoke with a straight-set win at third singles.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Stanley Peyton, Bridgewater College
Peyton, a senior from King George, Virginia, broke one of the oldest records in the BC record book during the Duke Invitational.  Peyton ran the 800 in a time of 1:54.04 to break a record that had stood for 24 years. The old record was set in 1984 by Mark Luiggi with a time of 1:54.36. Peyton's time is the best in the ODAC this season. Peyton also ran the 400 meters at Duke with a personal best time of 49.77 - the first sub 50-second 400 run by a BC athlete since the 2000 season. Peyton's time ranks third in the ODAC this season. 

Men's TrackHonor Roll

Travis Wray, Lynchburg

Provisionally qualified for nationals in the 1500-meters with a time of 3:53.72, making him the top D-III finisher in the event at Duke.

Alex Knutsen, Roanoke

Ran a 2:03.18 in the 800 and a 4:11.02 in the 1500 at the NC A&T meet.

David Kidd, Virginia Wesleyan Broke the old VWC record in the 1500 with a time of 4:09.72; old mark was 4:17.29 set in 2007.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sammy Mizerak, Bridgewater College
Mizerak, a sophomore from Purcellville, Virginia, ran on two winning relay teams, won two individual events and placed third in two more to help lead the Eagles to a second-place team finish at the Don Frail Invitational hosted by Marietta College.  Mizerak ran on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Both teams won and both set new meet records in the process. The 400 relay team ran a 48.67, just missing the NCAA provisional standard of 48.65. The 400 relay time was also a new BC record. The 1600 relay won with a time of 4:11.66. Both relay times ranks second in the ODAC this season.  Mizerak won both the long jump and triple jump. Her winning long jump was 17-feet, ¾ inches and her winning triple jump was 34 feet, 1 ½ inches. Both jumps rank No. 2 in the BC all-time records book. She also placed third in the javelin and third in the 400 meter hurdles. 

Women's Track Honor Roll

Danielle Garofalo, Lynchburg

Ran a personal-best 1:11.42 in the 400 hurdles and 16.37 in the 100 hurdles at NC A&T.

Kate Mason, Roanoke

Posted a 25.83 in the 200 and a personal-best 59.54 in the 400 at NC A&T.

Ashley Roanoke, Virginia Wesleyan

Ran 18:52.00 in the 5,000 at Duke to break her own school record of 19:27.00.
