USTFCCCA Honors BC's Celen and Davis, W&L's Lee

GRINNELL, Iowa --- Six student-athletes are set to represent their schools and the ODAC at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships.  One men's competitor and five women's standouts head to Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, for competition in the annual season-ending event on Friday and Saturday.

Bridgewater College and Eastern Mennonite University will feature two athletes each, with Virginia Wesleyan College and Washington and Lee University boasting the remaining two entrants.  Amber Celen, recently tabbed the South/Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA, and Kristen Trice wear BC colors.  The duo are coached by Denver Davis, who earned region Assistant Coach of the Year laurels.  EMU's pair includes Hannah Chappell-Dick and Jeremy Heizer, the lone men's competitor from the conference's contingent.  Marissa Coombs displays the Marlins' logo, while region Field Athlete of the Year, Dana Lee, represents the Generals.

Celen and Trice will both participate in multiple events at Grinnell.  Celen will sprint in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, taking ODAC-record times into both events.  Her mark of 0:07.72 in the 60m dash slots 12th among the 17 athletes slated to compete.  She carries the second-best time into the 200m dash at 0:25.09, just 0.23-seconds behind the top time.  Trice will particpate in the five-event pentathlon, which features the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800-meter run.

Chappell-Dick and Coombs square off in the same event, the mile run.  Chappell-Dick will challenge the ODAC record she set in the mile run in 2015 as she enters having eclipsed the five-minute mark at the Virginia Tech Challenge.  The multi All-American owns the ninth-best time in the championship field at 4:59.10.  Coombs' entry time is just off Chappell-Dick's pace at 5:00.68, which ranks 12th in the event.  She could just as easily challenge the conference standard. Both standouts are set to compete head-to-head in the same heat.

Lee will be competing in the long jump for the third straight season.  She just missed All-America status in 2014 after placing ninth, but made up for that with an eighth-place leap and All-America honors last season.  This weekend, Lee stands 16th in the field of competitors with a mark of 5.60 meters (18' 4.50").

Heizer worked his way into the national shot put competition with strong throws towards the end of the season.  After tossing the apparatus 15.81 meters to win ODAC gold, he improved to 16.26 meters (53' 4.25") by the last chance qualifier at Tufts University. That ranks 15th in the competition field.
