ERICA GARBER, Eastern Mennonite, Freshman

Garber, a freshman from Canby, Ore., won the triple jump Saturday at the DuCharme Invitational and also took over the top spot in the ODAC in process.  Her distance of 10.92m (35-10.0) won the triple jump over W&L’s Marissa Thompson (10.63m).  It was a personal best for Garber as she has improved her distance in each of her four collegiate meets.

Courtney Mebane, Virginia Wesleyan, Freshman
Mebane had a strong showing at the Mason-Dixon Conference championships hosted by Christopher Newport University.  Her highlight performance was in the 55 meter hurdles where she set a VWC record with a time of 8.92, topping the former record of 9.12 set by Brooke Bogart in 2009.  Mebane went on to break her own record in the finals with a time of 8.89 to place third overall.  She also finished sixth in the high jump (4-11.5)

Marissa Thompson, Washington and Lee, Sophomore
Thompson earned a pair of second-place finishes at the Dickinson DuCharme Invitational … placed second in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.16 and took second in the triple jump it a school-record distance 10.63 meters.
