Tallman, a sophomore from Grand Blanc, Mich., set the benchmark high in the first meet of the season as he placed in the top-10 overall and was the first NCAA Division III finisher in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes as the Liberty Kickoff over the weekend. Tallman was seventh overall with a time of 23.02 seconds in the 200 dash, equaling his event winning time on the same track at the 2011 ODAC Indoor Championships. He placed 2nd overall in the 400 dash with a time of 50.57 seconds, which is .04 seconds faster than his winning time from last year's conference meet.
Men's Indoor Track Honor Roll
Luke Sohl, Bridgewater, Freshman
Sohl placed sxith (first D-III runner) in the 5000
meters at the Liberty Kickoff meet. Sohl finished with a time of
15:49.02 and now places third in the BC career performance list in
the event.
Ralph Davis, Lynchburg, Senior
Davis had two good performances Saturday at the Liberty Kickoff. He
placed fourth in the weight throw with a new personal-best heave of
52-2 and was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 45-6.25.
Kyle Chowhan, Virginia Wesleyan, Junior
Chowhan smashed VWC's indoor pole vault record by clearing a
height of 14-1.75 to place fifth among 14 vaulters at the
Christopher Newport Holiday Open. His effort, which was the
best of all DIII competitors at the meet, tops the former
mark of 13-5.5 set by Chowhan in 2011.
