Graves, a senior from Christiansburg, Va., opened the new year of competition by defeating NCAA Division I and II competition to win the 800-meter run at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University. She completed the even in 2:09.99 (converted to 2:11.49 for track size), which stands as the top ODAC time in the event this season. She ranks #2 in the NCAA Division III following this weekend's action. Graves went on to anchor the Maroons 4x400-meter relay team, which clocked in at 3:57.68 (converted to 4:00.84 for track size). The Maroons are currently fifth in the country in the event.

Melanie Waters, Bridgewater (Va.) -
(Jr., Jumps - Pasadena, Md.)
Waters, who competed at the Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by
Susquehanna, took home a third-place finish in the long jump,
posting a mark of 16 feet, 3 inches. Her long jump is currently the
third-longest jump in the league this season. Waters followed up
that performance with a third place finish in the triple jump with
a 35 feet, 1 and 1/4 inch jump. Finally, the Pasadena, Md. native
wrapped up the meet with a sixth-place showing in the 200 meter
dash. Waters' 200 meter dash time of 27.98 seconds is the fastest
time from an Eagle this season and is currently the ninth-fastest
time in the league this season.
Hannah Chappell-Dick, Eastern Mennonite - (Fr.,
Distance - Bluffton, OH)
In her first try at the 800-meter run, freshman Hannah
Chappell-Dick shattered EMU's program record by seven seconds.
Chappell-Dick crossed the finish line in 2:20.23, taking second at
the Orange & Maroon Classic, and flying past the school record
of 2:27.28. She also ran on the 4x400m relay team which took third
with a time of 4:23.78.
Malikah French, Guilford College - (Jr., Jumps -
Durham, N.C.)
French recorded the ODAC's third-best triple jump this season
(10.30m/33'9.5") in her season debut at the Winston-Salem State
Open... her leap was the first in Guilford's young women's indoor
track and field history and placed ninth among 14 contestants (1st
among NCAA jumpers)... French also took seventh in the high jump
(1.42m/4'7.75")... her leap is eighth-best in the ODAC this season
and second only to her own school-record leap of 1.52 meters in
school history.... French also ran the first leg for Guilford's
4x400 relay which placed 17th in 5:00.32.
Shelby Bryceland, Virginia Wesleyan - (SR, Distance -
Virginia Beach)
Byrceland placed first in the 3000-meter run at the Captains
Invitational at CNU....she posted a winning time of 10:46.86 to
shatter the former VWC record of 10:53.13 set by former VWC
standout Ashley Roane in 2009...Bryceland's time is the secondest
fastest to date in the ODAC.
