Weather Delays Cause Overarching Schedule Changes

SALEM, Va. --- Weather again played havoc on schedules throughout the ODAC, limiting competitions in each of the ODAC's winter sports.  Baseball was also set to begin this past weekend, but only one game via Guilford's trip to Piedmont made to the diamond.

In men's basketball, Tyler Sanborn helped Guilford stave off an upset bid from Hampden-Sydney College during the mid-week.  The Quakers big man registered his conference-best 17th double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds, increasing his season averages to 20.0 points and 13.8 rebounds per game.  His biggest play of the night may have been his last when he blocked a potential game-tying shot in the final seconds to secure the two-point victory.

Guilford's Ann Seufer had a strong showing in women's hoops.  The senior sharpshooter nailed 11 three-pointers over two games, including six in a comeback win against Hollins.  Down five at the half, Seufer collected 14 of her season-high 26 points in the second half to lead GC to the win.  She hit five more threes against Bridgewater, including the go-ahead trey with 1:21 to play to lead the Quakers to a second ODAC win of the week.

Men's track saw David Doobin jump in a pair of events for Washington and Lee at the VMI Winter Relays.  He set a new ODAC seasonal top mark in the high jump, clearing 1.89 meters (6'2.25").  He also leapt 11.74 meters in the triple jump.

Maggie Sutherland picked up a pair of women's victories for the Generals at the VMI Winter Relays.  She won the high jump by clearing 1.50 meters and the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.53 seconds.

Swimming saw its final regular season action with Guilford splitting a double-dual with Greensboro and Salem.  Allison Semmler won the 200-yard freestyle (2:20.34) and placed second in the 50-yard (28.06) and 100-yard freestyles (1:01.40).  She also swam a leg on the 200-yard free and 200-yard medley relay teams that finished second.
