Phillips, a senior from Waynesboro, Va., wrapped up his
final regular season by helping the Runnin Royals to three big wins
over a six-day stretch. EMU enters the ODAC Tournament on an
eight-game winning streak, which is tied for the best in program
history. Phillips helped the Royals jump to a 17-2 lead on
No. 7 Virginia Wesleyan Monday night and led all scorers with 22
points in the 86-71 win. He finished with his second
consecutive double double as he added 11 rebounds and a game high
five assists. Wednesday in his final home game, Todd Phillips
helped EMU avenge an earlier loss to Washington & Lee.
Phillips was 7-of-10, including 5-of-8 from three point range, for
another 22 points as well as eight rebounds. Saturday, he had
12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists as the Royals locked up the
ODAC’s third seed with an 84-82 double overtime win at
Guilford. For the week, Phillips shot 18-of-37 from the floor
and averaged 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3
steals. He finished the regular season second in the ODAC in
scoring at 18.5 per game. He is also second in the conference
in free throws and is in the ODAC’s top ten in field goals,
free throw percentage, assists, and steals.
