John Caldwell, Roanoke, So., Forward

Caldwell, a sophomore from Spartanburg, S.C., helped the Maroons to a 1-1 showing at the Swarthmore Holiday Tournament and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team by averaging 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds that included his first two double-doubles of the season. Caldwell blistered from the field in both games, but especially show in Roanoke's 89-76 win over Averett. He was 10-of-13 from the field including 5-of-7 from deep on the way to 28 points. He pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in two assists and and two blocked shots. Caldwell kept up his strong play in the Maroons 96-86 setback to Rowan University. He went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 7-of-12 overall towards 20 points with a second 10-rebound outing. He dished out four assists against the Profs. For the season, Caldwell is tied for second in the ODAC in scoring average (18.8) and sixth in overall points scored (150). He's third in three-pointers made (22), fifth in field goals made (53), and seventh in three-point percentage (47.8%).

Week Five Men's Basketball Notes

- Bridgewater's Jesse Case came off the bench to record 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting that included a 5-for-8 showing from deep in the Eagles 71-62 win over Southern Virginia. He chipped in two assists and two steals.

- Eastern Mennonite's RaShawn Latimer earned a spot on the Rotary of Frederick Holiday Classic all-tournament team after averaging 14.5 points and 3.5 assists in the Royals' outings against Stockton (L, 80-79) and Hood (L, 74-62). He scored 10 points with five boards and four assists against Stockton, and followed that with 19 points on 5-of-7 from three-point territory against Hood. He dished out three assists and came up with two steals in that game.

- Alston Thompson helped lead Guilford to a 2-0 week with wins over Birmingham Southern (70-59) and N.C. Wesleyan (90-62). He scored 13 points with nine boards and two steals against BSC, and followed that with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting against NCWC. He added seven rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.

- Randolph-Macon forward Daniel Noe hit the would-be game-deciding shot with 13-seconds to play in the Yellow Jackets 49-47 win over Mary Washington. He finished with 16 points on 8-of-14 from the field and addeed five rebounds to his effort.

- Shenandoah picked up a 66-48 win over Ferrum behind a solid game from Kaimonne Douglas. He notched 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added four rebounds in just 12 minutes off the bench. He also had 11 points in the Hornets exhibition game against Howard.
