Devin Kearns, Washington and Lee, Jr., Guard

Kearns, a junior from Cibolo, Texas, helped the Generals to a pair of wins to even their record at 2-2 on the season. Kearns opened his week with 19 points and 10 assists for his first double-double of the season in a 96-57 triumph over Southern Virginia. He was 8-of-17 from the field and 3-of-3 from the foul line. He also notched four steals and two rebounds. Kearns was nearly as good in Washington and Lee's ODAC-opening victory over Hampden-Sydney, 92-67. He registered 16 points that included 6-of-6 from the stripe. He added eight assists, five rebounds, and three steals to his stat line. Kearns currently leads the ODAC in assists (25), assists per game (6.3), and steals per game (2.3). He is averaging 16.5 points per contest, which is just outside the ODAC's top-10.

Men's Basketball Weekly Notes

Bridgewater dropped a pair of outings at Wilson (91-78) and vs. Marymout (Va.) (57-55). AJ Horde led the way with a pair of double-digit games, scoring 17 points at Wilson and 12 against Marymount. He is currently fifth in the ODAC at 19.8 points per game.

Eastern Mennonite defeated Hood (98-83) in its only game of the week. RaShawn Latimer led the way with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting that included 4-of-7 from deep. He added five assists, three boards, and two steals.

Emory & Henry took down William Peace (98-83) on the road in its only contest of the week, moving to 3-0 for the second straight year. A win against Ferrum this week would mark the best start for the Wasps since 1992-93 when they opened the season 10-0 on the way to a deep NCAA run. John Shelor led against WPU with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting with a pair of three-pointers. He chipped in four steals. He is second in the ODAC in shooting at 64.5 percent (20-of-31).

Guilford dropped an outing against Averett (82-69) in the nationally 18th-ranked Quakers lone game of the week. Carson Long led with 20 points and five boards to go with a career-high five blocked shots. He is second in the ODAC in scoring at 21.0 points per game.

Hampden-Sydney dropped its two games last week at William Peace (89-70) and at Washington and Lee (92-67) in the first ODAC game for any two squads this season. Kevin Quinn led with 20 points against WPU.

Lynchburg split a pair of outings with a 33-point win over Ferrum (85-52) and a late loss to Methodist (86-81). Chance Greene averaged 24 points over the two games, bringing his season nightly output to an ODAC-best 21.5 points per game. He went for a career-best 27 against FC on 10-of-17 shooting including 7-of-11 from deep. He added four boards in that game. He chipped in 21 points with four rebounds and five assists against MU. He made four more three-pointers in that game, giving him a league-high 15 makes from downtown.

Randolph fell to Greensboro (96-82) in its only outing of the week. Ryan Fields led with 15 points, six boards, and four assists.

Randolph-Macon moved to 3-1 with a win over Ferrum (69-56) in its only contest last week. Korey Turner and Daniel Noe registered a team-best 18 points each. Turner hit four three-pointers and Noe added four assists.

Roanoke improved to 4-0 with a pair of wins over William Peace (70-53) and Greensboro (85-79). C.J. Miles averaged 21.0 points and shot 58.3-percent (14-of-24) from the field. He went for 19 points after hitting four three-pointers against WPU with four boards and two steals. He notched 23 points on 9-of-13 from the field against Greensboro.

Shenandoah moved to 2-1 with a 78-69 victory at Gallaudet in their only official game of the week (also played William & Mary in an exhibition). Kwa McDonald led with 23 oints on 9-of-13 shooting against GU. He made a trio from deep and added eight boards, six steals, two assists and two blocked shots.

Virginia Wesleyan improved to 3-0 with an 80-77 win at Salisbury. Lamont Steward posted his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. He was 8-of-10 from the foul line.
