Bridgewater Names New Men's Soccer Coach

O'Toole Takes Over Following Five Years at Richmond

BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Bridgewater College has named Matt O'Toole as its new head men's soccer coach for the 2009 season. O'Toole succeeds Anthony "Nino" Altomonte, who resigned following the completion of the 2008 season.

O'Toole comes to Bridgewater following five years as an assistant coach at the University of Richmond. In 2006, the Richmond program finished third in the Atlantic 10 Conference and advanced to the semifinals of the A-10 Conference tournament.

Prior to his stay in Richmond, O'Toole began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Wheaton College. In his two years as an assistant, Wheaton posted an overall record of 34-9-2. The team won the NEWMAC championship in 2003 and advanced to the semifinals at the NCAA Division III tournament.

O'Toole was a four-year starter at Providence College and was an All-New England League all-star in 2000. He graduated from Providence with a BS in marketing.

O'Toole played five years in the United Soccer League and trained with three Major League Soccer clubs. He also trained with the Bohemians FC of the Eircom Premier League of Ireland.
