Senior Chris
Conover was named to the 2012 NSCAA Men's Soccer
Division III All-America Team announced this week. Conover is
the first Maroon to garner the honor since Michael Stark was named
second team in the 2010 season.
Chris Conover, a senior for Dagsboro, DE, earned third
team honors for his outstanding year as a defensive leader for the
Maroons in 2012. He scored three goals against Washington
& Lee to help clinch the top spot in the ODAC. Conover
also made a goal line save during the Virginia Wesleyan contest,
where the Maroons won 1-0 to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Conover finishes his collegiate career at Roanoke with five
goals and seven assists. This is not his only accolade in 2012
as Conover was named All-ODAC First Team defender for the second
year in a row. He was also named to the NSCAA All-South
Region second team in 2011.
The Maroons finished the season with a record of 13-5-1, 8-2-1 in
the ODAC. The 2012 season was the sixth-consecutive 10-win
season for Roanoke, a feat that has never been accomplished in
60-plus years of the program. The Maroons actually closed out
the season with a record of 10-2-1 in the final 13 games of the
season. Roanoke also won the ODAC Championship for the ninth
time in school history, defeating Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 in double
overtime.
