LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Randolph College Athletics Department announced today that Adam Godwin will serve as its new men's soccer head coach. Godwin becomes the second head coach in the history of the WildCat program, replacing Bryan Waggoner, who took over the same position at Wheaton College in Massachusetts.

"Coach Godwin's passion for soccer and enthusiasm for our program is contagious," said Randolph Athletic Director Tina Hill. "He brings with him a wealth of unique experiences that will serve our students and community well.  He is eager to work with our players this spring and to quickly connect with our prospective students and alumni.  We are confident that he will lead our program with a strong work ethic and a vision for continued success in the years ahead." 

Godwin is no stranger to the Lynchburg area. He is a 2005 graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management. The Hereford, England native was a four-year member of the Flames men's soccer team. Godwin served as a team captain and earned Big South First Team All-Conference and VaSID Second Team All-State honors. After LU, Godwin played professionally in England and with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL.

"Building on the tremendous foundation created by Coach Waggoner and our remarkable alumni, we will continue to be a model of excellence in the ODAC and Division III men's soccer as we train champions for life, create an outstanding student-athlete experience, and win with character and integrity.

Godwin brings over eight years of coaching experience, including experience as an assistant coach with both the Flames and Lynchburg College women's soccer programs. He also has seven years of administrative experience in the Liberty athletic department. He served as the assistant director of operations for football and is currently the director of alumni relations for athletics. Godwin has also been the president and owner of the Adam Godwin Soccer Academy in Lynchburg since 2008.

"I want to thank my family for their endless love and belief in me," Godwin added. "The life of a coach's family is not an easy one, and I am only able to pursue these goals and dreams thanks to their support and encouragement. I cannot win without them behind me, and we are thrilled to be joining the WildCat family.

Godwin assumes his duties on March 19.
