Guilford Tabs Bair as Men's Soccer Head Coach

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Guilford College athletics department announced the hiring of Mike Bair as the new men's soccer head coach on Tuesday.

"I am very excited to join the athletic department at Guilford College," Bair said. "I would like to thank the Director of Athletics, Bill Foti, for the opportunity to lead the men's soccer program and contribute to the rich history of Guilford athletics."

Bair comes to Guilford after serving as the men's soccer head coach at Mary Baldwin University from 2019 through 2021. During his time as the leader of the Fighting Squirrels, he led a brand new NCAA Division III men's soccer program.

"I'm excited to welcome Mike Bair as the new Head Coach of Men's Soccer at Guilford," Bill Foti, Director of Athletics, added. "He has demonstrated success during twelve years of experience at the Division III level as both an assistant and head coach. His experience competing against many ODAC schools, both on the field of play and in recruiting, should make his transition a smooth one."

In 2019, Mary Baldwin clinched a berth in the USA South playoffs. Additionally he coached four all-conference players including the conference's Rookie of the Year.

Prior to his time at Mary Baldwin, Bair was an assistant coach at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. From 2010-18, the Golden Tornadoes went 109-49-25, six-straight postseason appearances, one Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship. Geneva made an NCAA Tournament appearance and an ECAC Semifinal appearance.

Bair holds a United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) National Diploma as well as Goalkeeping Level I and II Diplomas. He earned his master of arts in higher education and bachelor of science in business administration from Geneva College where he also played collegiate soccer.

Mike is married to his wife, Megan, and they have two daughters, Lily and Emily.
