Randolph's Blow Repeats as POY to Highlight the All-ODAC Men's Soccer Awards

FOREST, Va. --- Conference champion University of Lynchburg and nationally top-ranked Washington and Lee University each collected eight all-conference laurels and a pair of individual special honors to headline the 2021 All-ODAC Men's Soccer Awards.

Randolph College forward Evan Blow earned ODAC Player of the Year recognition for the second straight season. Lynchburg's Chris Yeager and W&L's Mike Singleton shared ODAC Coach of the Year plaudits. Generals midfielder Weyimi Agbeyegbe received ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades, and Lynchburg centerback Nick Foley won his second straight ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year award from the league's athletic communications personnel.

A total of 19 stars earned at least a second straight position on an All-ODAC team. Ten of those players feature on the 2021 All-ODAC First Team. Lynchburg forward Luke Mega and outside back Joey Daly repeat as first team picks. The same can be said of W&L playmaker Michael Kutsanzira and centerback Jack Rawlins. Blow and Roanoke College centerback Joe Carman also appeared on the top chart last spring. Generals forward Samuel Bass and centerback Seth Chapman joined Roanoke midfielder Dylan Berk in moving up the spring's All-ODAC Second Team. Lynchburg attacking midfielder Bhayle Kearns made the leap from the All-ODAC Third Team to the first unit.

Blow, a senior from Charlottesville, Va., is the seventh player in ODAC history to win two ODAC Player of the Year honors, but he is only the second to do it in back-to-back seasons. He joins former Virginia Wesleyan University standout Brandon Massie in that respect, who earned three-straight top awards from 2007-09. Blow set Randolph single-season records with 44 points and 18 goals scored, topping the marks of former two-time ODAC Player of the Year Corey Sindle. Blow is leading the ODAC in both categories, while his eight assists are second in the league. He opened the season by scoring at least one goal in the WildCats first eight games played. For the season, Blow scored a goal in 14-of-19 games played with at least one point in 15 contests. He is credited with scoring six game-winning goals, which includes the conversion of a penalty kick in double-overtime at top-seeded Washington and Lee in the ODAC semifinals. For his career, Blow has racked up 94 points on 37 goals and 20 assists.

Yeager is in his 20th season guiding the Lynchburg men's program. This is the seventh time he has earned ODAC Coach of the Year recognition with this year's award joining honors received in 2004, 2006, 2009-10, and 2016-17. The Hornets earned the second seed in the ODAC Tournament following an 8-1-0 run through the league slate. Lynchburg hoisted its second straight and ODAC-record 18th overall men's soccer trophy, earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament in the process. Currently at 15-4-1 overall, Yeager owns a career record of 231-113-47 (.651).

Singleton is in his eighth season at Washington and Lee and his 11th campaign as a collegiate men's soccer coach. This the fourth time he has garnered ODAC top-coaching recognition, pairing this honor with awards earned in 2015 and 2018-19. Washington and Lee has spent the past several weeks of the season as Division III's top-ranked team -- including at the time of this release -- according to the United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll. The Generals went 8-0-1 through the ODAC regular season to earn the event's top-seed. W&L's run in the league postseason ended in double-overtime of the semifinals to Randolph. However, the Generals' 15-1-2 overall record and season resumé earned them an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament. Singleton enters the field with a 109-27-16 (.770) record at W&L and a 144-42-20 (.748) overall mark.

Agbeyegbe, a first-year from Atlanta, Ga., has started all but two of 17 games played in becoming a key part of the top-ranked Generals' starting 11 with the NCAA Tournament still upcoming. Agbeyegbe has registered 14 points on five goals and four assists as a dynamic outside midfielder. He scored in four straight games in early October and is credited with one game-winning goal during that stretch as he opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory at Hampden-Sydney. His most productive outing came in an 8-0 win at Eastern Mennonite where he scored once and dished out a pair of assists.

Foley, a graduate student from Bassett, Va., pairs this honor with a second straight selection to the All-ODAC Second Team. In the classroom, Foley finished his undergrad career with a 3.80 grade point average as a biology major. He is now pursuing a Master's of Science in Lynchburg's rigorous physician assistant program. Foley earned the University's Mahan-Osborne Outstanding Senior in Biology Award. His senior project was entitled "Initiating Drug Discovery for Applications in Bacteriophage Treatment of Multi-Drug Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Infections."

On the field, the Hornets' centerback spearheads a championship defense that has allowed 19 goals in 19 games towards a 0.97 goals against average with the NCAA Tournament on the horizon. Always a target on corner kicks and set pieces, Foley has doubled his previous season-high goals scored and assists output with four tallies and a pair of helpers. He is credited with one game-deciding goal as he scored the game's second goal in a 6-1 victory over Bridgewater.
