ALAN HINTON, Virginia Wesleyan, Freshman, Goalkeeper

Hinton, a freshman from Bristow, Va., helped guide VWC to a 2-0-1 week, with the tie a 2-2 double overtime finish with Christopher Newport University, ranked No. 1 nationally.  Hinton made two crucial take aways in that game, one in each of the overtime periods, to help shut down the CNU offense.  He faced 23 CNU shots and finished with seven saves, his second highest total of the season.  Hinton recorded 11 saves in the three games and recorded a pair of shutouts over Greensboro College and Emory & Henry College.  He now owns an 0.68 goals against average and an .878 saves percentage.  He is also 5-2-2 on the season.

Men's Soccer Honor Roll

Freddy Gomez, Guilford College, Sophomore, Midfielder
Gomez contributed a goal and an assist for a team-best three points in Guilford’s 2-0 week… scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season in Guilford’s 2-1 home win over Hampden-Sydney… assisted on Richard Page’s game-winning goal in the first half of the Quakers’ 4-1 road triumph over Bridgewater… leads Guilford with 19 points… moved into ninth place on Guilford’s career scoring chart with 46 points.

Bryan Wharton, Hampden-Sydney College, Junior, Forward
Wharton posted three goals and two assists for eight points on the week for the Tigers. At Guilford on Wednesday, he tallied the game-tying goal. On Saturday against Eastern Mennonite, he found the back of the net twice on four shots and assisted on two other scores for six points. The two assists marked his first-ever multi-assist game and the two goals gave him his eighth career multi-goal game. Wharton currently leads the ODAC in goals with nine and points with 21 and is tied for third in assists with three.

Michael Releford, Lynchburg College, Freshman, Goalkeeper
Releford made three saves Tuesday in a 1-0 win at Washington & Lee University. For the season he has five shutouts and has allowed just five goals in over 820 minutes in net.

Jacob Hood, Randolph College, Freshman, Midfielder
Hood scored a huge goal in a 2-2 tie against Roanoke on Saturday evening. With four seconds left in regulation, Hood blasted a shot in the box into the net to tie the game at two. Hood also played extremely well in the midfield during both games this week, winning tackles and balls in the air.

Cameron Travalini, Roanoke College, Sophomore, Forward
Travalini scored a goal and added an assist in the 3-0 win over Emory & Henry last week.  Totaled two shots in the 2-2 tie against Randolph on Saturday.

James Pymm, Washington and Lee University, Senior, Forward
Pymm recorded the game-winning goal for the Generals against Randolph-Macon on Saturday, while also tying for the team lead in shots (2) for the contest. Also led the team in shots (3) while playing to a 0-1 loss to Lynchburg on Tuesday.
