W&L Tabbed Atop Men’s Tennis Poll

Hampden-Sydney and Roanoke Sit Second and Third

SALEM, Va. --- Washington and Lee University received all 10 first place votes and collected 100 points overall in the 2008 ODAC Men's Tennis Coaches Poll.  Hampden-Sydney College picked up 85 nods for second place and Roanoke College notched 78 tallies for third place.

Washington and Lee (20-3, 9-0 ODAC), took home its 27th league crown last year and qualified for the NCAA Tournament where the Generals fell in the first round to Johns Hopkins, 5-1.  The Generals return four All-ODAC First Team selections in seniors Nate Estes, Seth Feibelman and Tim Ross and junior Jamie McCardell and one ODAC Honorable Mention selection in senior Stuart Sanford.

Hampden-Sydney (10-6, 5-4 ODAC) was defeated in the semifinal round to eventual ODAC champion, Washington and Lee in last year's conference tournament.  The Tigers are excited to return three ODAC all-conference team selections including sophomores Williams Moss, the 2007 Player of the Year and Rookie of the year, as well as Kenneth Holzapfel and senior Andrew McLeod.

Roanoke (15-7, 8-1 ODAC) lost  to Washington and Lee in the conference championship match last year.  The Maroons return several all-conference team selections from last years squad including senior Kyle Allen, juniors Sam Jordan and Drew Rogers and sophomore Sam Sherrill.
