Washington and Lee Heads ODAC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll

Marlins, Quakers Round Out Top Three

FOREST, Va. --- Six-time reigning ODAC champion Washington and Lee University opens the 2016 campaign as the favorite to capture its 35 conference men's tennis crown after topping the ODAC preseason poll with 10 first place votes and 100 total points. Virginia Wesleyan College sits seconds with 89 tallies and the remaining first place nod from the league's head coaches. Guilford College rounds out the top-three with 81 points.

The 2015 ODAC Tournament featured seven victories by the seeded favorites, including the Generals' 5-1 victory over Virginia Wesleyan in the finals.  After receiving a bye thru the first round, Washington and Lee's stay in the NCAA Division III Team Tournament last just one contest, with W&L falling to N.C. Wesleyan, 5-3, in the second round.

Twenty-four individual players took home All-ODAC honors in 2015 with 19 returning to ODAC courts this season. That includes eight that earn All-ODAC First Team honors. Heading that list in reigning ODAC Player of the Year Jordan Krasner.  He's joined by three first team Generals teammates in Sam Borowsky, Ethan Markman and Michael Holt, who also double as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete. In addition to their singles honors, Borowsky and Markman were first team recipients at #3 doubles.

Bridgewater College's Kyle Hartfield picked up top honors at both #2 singles and #1 doubles, while fellow Eagle Thomas Rishcoff formed one-half of the first team #2 doubles tandem. The remaining two first team honorees wear Virginia Wesleyan colors as Kenneth Downing and Adam Rosemblaum picked up singles honors.

The 2016 spring season begins with non-conference action the weekend of Saturday, February 13.  The first ODAC match is slated for Sunday, February 14, with one contest and begins in earnest on Wednesday, March 2.
