BC's Robinson, GC's Godwin Receive Major Awards

FOREST, Va. --- Washington and Lee University standout Jordan Krasner joins his women's teammate Brooke Donnelly in taking home a pair of major honors to highlight the 2017 All-ODAC Men's Tennis Awards. Krasner earned ODAC Player of the Year honors in addition to being selected as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete. Bridgewater College mentor Jordon Robinson garnered ODAC Coach of the Year honors from his peers, while Guilford College first-year competitor Tate Godwin picked up ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels.

Four singles players plus parts of five doubles teams repeat as All-ODAC honorees a season ago with five honors on the All-ODAC First Team in 2017. Krasner, who was the ODAC Player of the Year in 2015, moves back up to the first team at #1 singles after earning second team honors at the top flight in 2016. W&L's Will Bannister moves up to #2 singles from #3 singles last year, while teammate Zack Ely jumps up from second team #4 singles to first team #3 singles. Ely was also the ODAC Rookie of the Year last season.

In the doubles ranks, Bannister repeats as one-part of a top-flight tandem, while Krasner is a first team doubles performer as half of the #3 duo.

Krasner, a senior from Rockville, Md., stars both on and off the court for the Generals. In the classroom, Krasner maintains a 3.584 grade point average is a double major in Computer Science and Economics. He is a multi-honoree as a W&L Scholar as well as the All-ODAC Academic Team. A former member on the ITA All-Academic Team, Krasner participates with the W&L Venture Club, which was was established in 2010 to help students from across campus learn about start-ups in a hands-on environment.

On the court, Krasner earns ODAC top player distinction for the second time in his career. He is currently the eighth-rated player in the ITA's Atlantic South region. He went 10-0 against ODAC competition in singles matches, all from the top flight. He went 13-6 at #1 singles overall this spring and 15-9 when factoring in his five matches from competition in the fall. That included a berth in the round of the 32 at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships. Krasner and doubles partner Mitchell Thomas earned All-ODAC First Team honors at #3 doubles, finishing the spring 14-2 overal land 7-0 in the ODAC. The duo went 8-1 at #2 doubles and 6-1 at #3 doubles.

Robinson enjoys his first ODAC top coaching honor as he puts a wraps on his third season as dual men' and women's head coach at Bridgewater College. He led the Eagles' men to a three-win improvement over a season ago, going 13-6 overall and 9-1 in league play on the way to the second seed and a berth in the semifinals in the ODAC Tournament.

Godwin, a freshman from Chapel Hill, N.C., pairs this honor with an All-ODAC First Team selection at #1 singles and an All-ODAC Second Team nod at #1 doubles. He went 8-6 from the top flight in singles play in his first spring in Greensboro. That included a 6-3 mark against ODAC competition. His overall singles record for the 2016-17 is 10-11. Godwin and teammate Mesa Martorell went 9-6 at #1 doubles, posting a 6-2 mark against conference competition. The duo finished the season 12-10 in all matches throughout the 2016-17 campaign.
