Washington and Lee Falls to Bowdoin in NCAA Second Round

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- The Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Saturday with a 5-2 loss to ninth-ranked Bowdoin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Williams College.
 
The Polar Bears captured a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition, claiming matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 position.  The Generals took second doubles with an 8-5 win by junior Evan Brady (Glen Head, N.Y. / Chaminade) and first-year Evan Erb (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) over Jack Flores and Evan Fortier.
 
The tandem of first-years Will Kistler (Hilton Head, S.C. / Laurel Springs School) and Eli Hirshberg (Alpharetta, Ga. / Johns Creek) fell to Tristan Bradley and Reid Staples at No. 1 and the duo of sophomores Josh Rassin (Houston, Texas / Lamar) and Connor Coleman (Birmingham, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) dropped an 8-2 decision to Ethan Bradley and Pieter Breuker at No. 3.
 
Bowdoin claimed straight set wins at first and second singles, but Brady responded with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Fortier at No. 3 singles for the Generals' second point.  However, the Polar Bears took No. 4 singles to close out the match and end W&L's 13-match winning streak.
 
Bowdoin improved to 16-5 overall and advances to Sunday's third round.  The Generals' season ends with a 15-9 overall record.
