Shepherd, a senior from New York, N.Y., went 3-3 overall against national competition last week, picking up a pair of high profile singles victories. In a 6-3 victory over Atlantic South Region #8 Salisbury, Shepherd made up for an 8-4 loss at #1 doubles with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at #1 singles over Alec Andradi, the region's second-ranked and nation's 14th-rated singles player. Shepherd again came up with a big singles win despite an 8-5 doubles loss against nationally 25th-ranked Redlands. He posted a 6-7, 7-6, 10-8 tirumph over Andrew Leahy to account for one of the Generals' points in a 6-3 team setback. Shepherd and partner John Rudden got on the board with an 8-7 (5) win at #1 doubles in W&L's 8-1 setback to 17th-ranked Pomona-Pitzer. Shepherd came up short at #1 singles against Jed Kronenberg via a 6-2, 6-2 result. For the year, Shepherd is 6-3 at #1 singles and 4-4 at #1 doubles.
