Buckingham, a sophomore from Herndon, Va., tallied eight goals and one assist on 17 shots along with four draw controls in two Hornet victories over the past week. In an 11-7 win at Christopher Newport, Lesley dropped three goals along with two draw controls. On Saturday in an 11-9 victory against Guilford, Buckingham posted five scores and one assist. For the season, she leads the Hornets in goals (25), assists (13), and points (38).
Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll
Erin Cartwright, Bridgewater, Senior - Attack
Cartwright scored 11 points in the two games this past
week to lead the Eagles to a 2-0 record. Cartwright scored three
goals to go along with three assists in a 20-2 victory over
Randolph. She added 3 goals and 2 assists in a 12-6 win over
Frostburg State - BC's first win over the Bobcats since 1988.
Summer Frazier, Guilford, Sophomore - Midfield
Frazier led Guilford in a 1-1 week with five points, five
goals and four draw controls… scored a game-high two goals
and had two draw controls in a win over Hollins… shared
team-high honors with three scores at Lynchburg… also had a
team-best two draw controls.
Holly Sargeant, Randolph-Macon, Freshman - Attack
Sargeant had three goals and one assist in R-MC's only
contest of the week, a 21-2 victory over ODAC rival Hollins.
Gina Valles, Roanoke College, Senior - Midfield
Valles scored four goals along with two assists in a 12-5
win over Colorado College in Washington, DC on Saturday. She
currently leads the Maroons in goals (30), assists (8), points
(38), shots (51), shots on goal (39), free-position goals (5), and
groundballs (17).
Laura Norris, Virginia Wesleyan, Senior - Midfield
Norris continued to be a steady offensive leader for the
Marlins as she scored seven goals, four assists and 11 points in a
1-1 week against St. Mary’s College and Sweet Briar
College. Norris has recorded at least two assists in her last
eight consecutive games and has increased her career total to 92,
moving her into the No. 3 spot among VWC’s all-time
leaders. She leads the Marlins with 25 assists and is the
team’s co-leader with 27 goals. She is also the current
team leader in ground balls.
