LC's Olsen and Sadowski, W&L's Hogan also Honored
FOREST, Va. --- Lynchburg College forward Dessi
Dupuy earned the ODAC Player of the Year award as one of three LC
Hornets taking home special honors as part of the All-ODAC women's
soccer awards. LC mentor Dr. Todd Olsen was tabbed the ODAC
Coach of the Year, while defender Rachel Sadowski was selected as
the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the league's
sports information directors. Washington and Lee University
defender Ashley Hogan received ODAC Rookie of the Year
accolades.
Dupuy, a junior from Lynchburg, Va., is currently leading the ODAC
in points (48) and goals scored (21) as LC prepares to enter the
NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. She registered
at least one point in 15-of-22 games played this season, notching
four or more points six times. She finished the regular
season and ODAC tournament with 20 points over four games,
including a pair of hat-tricks. If she remains atop the ODAC
in points and goals scored throughout the Hornets stay in NCAA
play, Dupuy will have topped the conference all three of her years
in crimson and gray in goals scored and two out of three years in
points accumulated. She's racked up 75 goals and 168 points
in her career, placing her third and sixth, respectively, in the
ODAC's record books.
Olsen is in his 20th season guiding the Lynchburg women's soccer
program. This is the eighth time he's earned the ODAC's top
coaching honor, having last secured the award in 2010 and 2011.
He led the Hornets to their 12th conference title in
program history this season, tying Randolph-Macon College for the
most ODAC women's soccer crowns all-time. Lynchburg will be
making its 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last 17
years.
Hogan, a freshman from North Chesterfield, Va., adds the ODAC
Rookie of the Year award to an All-ODAC First Team selection.
She stepped into W&L's back line and started all 18 games she
played. She helped lead a Generals' defense that led the
league in fewest goals allowed (9) and lowest goals-against-average
(0.42). Those numbers improved against league foes, tying
Lynchburg for tops in fewest goals allowed (3) and lowest GAA
(0.25).
Sadowski, a senior from Lewes, Del., carries a 3.97 grade point
average as an Environmental Science major. She was named a
CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team selection, as well as a
NSCAA First Team Scholar All-American, in 2012. She's a
perennial member of both the Lynchburg Dean's List and the All-ODAC
Academic Team. On the field, Sadowski is a two-time All-ODAC
First Team honoree, earning those laurels in each of the past two
seasons. She was also named the 2012 College Division State
Player of the Year by VaSID. She anchored a defensive unit
that gave up only three goals and a 0.25 GAA in league play, while
only surrendering 10 goals and a 0.45 GAA overall in 2013.
Sadowski got in the attack on occasion, notching two goals and
three assists for seven points.
