EMILY LEARY, Washingotn and Lee, Senior, Goalkeeper

Leary, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, posted two shutouts on the week, including a 3-0 win over Hollins on Tuesday and a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Lynchburg College on Saturday. During the match against Lynchburg, Leary came up with a key save in the 109th minute after LC was awarded a penalty kick after one of its players was taken down on the edge of the Generals box. Leary made a diving save to her left, preserving the scoreless draw.  This season, Leary leads the ODAC in goals against (1), goals-against average (0.08) and save percentage (.957), while also posting 10 shutouts. Currently, she has 32 career shutouts, just two short of tying the career record at W&L (Kiki Moreo ’08, 34).  As of last week’s NCAA national statistics, Leary ranked second in the nation in goals-against average (0.098) and fourth in save percentage (.944).

Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Melanie Waters, Bridgewater, Sophomore, Forward
Waters scored three goals in two games this week to help lead the Eagles to a pair of conference victories. Waters scored two goals in the first 11 minutes in Bridgewater’s key 5-2 victory over Randolph-Macon. She scored the first goal in Bridgewater’s 6-0 victory over Hollins. 

Taylor Wenger, Eastern Mennonite, Sophomore, Midfielder
Wenger increased her team-leading total of goals when she scored twice in Tuesday’s 4-0 shutout of Sweet Briar.  She scored the game-winning in the 24th minute then added another score in the second half.  Wenger leads EMU with four goals and eight points on the season.

Erica Merriman, Emory & Henry, Midfielder, Freshman
Merriman scored three of the Wasps five goals this week including the match winner Sunday against North Carolina Wesleyan. On Saturday, Merriman converted a penalty kick in the fourth minute in a 2-1 loss to Randolph-Macon. Sunday, Merriman scored the first two goals of the contest, in the 16th and 36th minutes, respectively, as the Wasps took down the Battling Bishops. Merriman leads E&H in scoring with nine goals for 18 points and has two match winners.

Amy Baker, Guilford, Senior, Goalkeeper
Baker Made 15 saves in Guilford’s two losses to nationally ranked league rivals… had 11 stops at #23 Lynchburg, her third game of the year with 10 or more saves… stopped four shots in Guilford’s 1-0 loss to #20 Va Wesleyan.

Dessi Dupuy, Lynchburg, Freshman, Forward
Dupuy moved within three goals of the single-season scoring record for Lynchburg with two goals against Guilford for a season total of 22 goals. She leads the ODAC in goals and has twice as many goals as the next highest mark in the ODAC while leading the conference in points (49). Dupuy last week was at the top of the goals and points categories in NCAA Division III.

Marielle Rando, Randolph, Sophomore, Forward
Rando came in as the team leader with four assists, but she got on the scoring sheet Saturday, posting a hat trick against Sweet Briar College in a 5-1 win. For Rando, it was her second career hat trick. She now has 10 points on the season (3G, 4A).

Christina Fernandes, Virginia Wesleyan, Junior, Forward
Fernandes scored two goals and three assists in VWC's win over Randolph....helped VWC to a 2-0 week....she ranks second for VWC in scoring with seven goals and six assits.
