Emory Defeats Washington and Lee in NCAA Third Round

LEXINGTON, Va. --- Top-ranked Emory defeated 15th-ranked Washington and Lee, 5-0, in the third round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament on Sunday afternoon at the W&L Upper Tennis Courts.

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead into singles play after claiming all three doubles matches.

Emory's Katarina Su topped sophomore Emily Kochard (Crozet, Va. / Western Albemarle) by a score of 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and Madison Gordon posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over first-year Melinda Kauffman (Fuquay Varina, N.C. / North Raleigh Christian Academy) at No. 5 singles to close out the match.

The Generals conclude the season with a 19-6 overall record, while the Eagles improve to 25-5 and will take on 10th-ranked Washington University- St. Louis in the quarterfinals round on May 23.
