Michelle Fleenor, Washington and Lee, Jr., #3 Singles, #2 Doubles

Fleenor, a junior from Chattanooga, Tenn., was the deciding factor in the top-16 matchup for Washington and Lee women's tennis last week. The Generals, rated 16th in the country by the ITA, took down 10th ranked Carnegie Mellon, 5-4. Fleenor and teammate Lauren Hassell dropped a tight #2 doubles match to Vinaya Rao and Courtney Ollis, 9-7. But Fleenor recovered for a 6-0, 6-7, 6-1 victory at #3 singles over Jamie Vizelman, the #13 ranked player in the Atlantic South Region. The point Fleenor earned was the deciding factor in Washington and Lee team victory. Fleenor is now 8-2 in overall singles matches and 7-3 in doubles play.

Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll

Jamiah Lewis, Bridgewater (Fr. - 1/2)
Lewis won 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 at #1 singles and joined Shannon Quinn for an 8-0 victory at #2 doubles in the Eagles 8-1 victory over Southern Virginia.

Molly Jesseman, Randolph-Macon (Sr. - 5/2)
Jesseman went 2-0 at #5 singles and joined Melissa Tomlin for two wins at #2 doubles as RMC posted non-conference wins over Meredith (9-0) and Averett (8-1). She won 6-0, 6-3 and 8-3 against Meredith and 6-1, 6-0 and 8-0 versus Averett.

Emma Barker, Roanoke (Sr. - 3-4/2-3)
Barker and Carolyn Kitsock won 8-4 at #3 doubles in the Maroons 5-4 setback to Randolph. Barker rebounded from a singles loss to the WildCats with a 2-6, 6-0, 10-8 triumph at #3 singles over Emory & Henry. She and Lydia Dey added one more point to RC's 7-2 team win with an 8-1 triumph at #2 doubles.
