R-MC's Carter and Dabareiner, W&L's Boles Recognized

FOREST, Va. --- The American Volleyball Coaches Assocation (AVCA) recently announced its postseason awards, and three ODAC student-athletes were honored.  Randolph-Macon's Mallory Carter (pictured) and teammate Marli Dabareiner were named to the AVCA All-South Region Team as well as honorable mention All-America.  Washington and Lee's M.A. Boles was named honorable mention all-region.

Carter, an All-ODAC First Team choice, finished the season with a R-MC single-season record 443 kills as an outside hitter. She was tops in the league with a 4.10 kills per game average, while playing one of the toughest schedules in the South Region.   Carter also ranked in the top-10 in the league in service aces (42), service aces per game (0.41) and hitting percentage (.237).  Carter accounted for a conference-best 500 points on the season and her 4.6 total points per game led the ODAC.  Defensively, she had 343 digs which ranked 13th overall.

Dabareiner earned All-ODAC First Team laurels following a season in which she led the ODAC with 466 digs as the Yellow Jackets' libero.  Her 5.12 digs per game was tops in the league.  Her 466 stops mark the sixth-best single-season total in Randolph-Macon history.

Boles appears on the AVCA All-South Region Honorable Mention list for a second straight season in addition to earning 2010 AVCA South Region Rookie of the Year accolades.  The 2011 ODAC Player of the Year led the league in several statistical categories following the ODAC Tournament, including kills with 415 and total attacks (1,156).  She ended the year second in kills/set (3.71), sixth in service aces (44), eighth in digs (351) and 12th in attach percentage (.232).
