Sears, a sophomore from Newport News, Va., helped R-MC to a 3-0 week, registering 30 kills (at a 3.33 per game average) while hitting at a .460 clip. She made only one attack error in 63 attempts. Defensively, Sears also had 38 digs and averaged 4.22 per game. Sears had double-digit kills against Marymount (12) and NC Wesleyan (10).

Lindsay Kallam, Bridgewater College, Freshman,
Setter
Kallam averaged 5.7 assists/game as the Eagles
finished the week with a 2-3 record. Kallam was named to the
al-tournament team at the Cougar Classic hosted by Averett
University where she averaged 6.0 assists/game.
Brittany Freeman, Guilford, Sophomore, Outside
Hitter
Freeman Helped the Quakers to their best start (4-1)
since 1996 with 2.89 kills and 2.79 digs per game in 19
games… put away 16 kills and had 16 digs with two aces in
Guilford’s five-set win over Meredith… sparked
Guilford to its first win over Roanoke since 1997 with 14 kills and
16 digs… had 15 kills on .242 hitting in Guilford’s
3-1 win at Averett, the Quakers’ first over the Cougars since
2002.
Kristen Spinner, Randolph College, Senior, Middle
Hitter
Spinner has led the WildCats to their best start in seven
seasons, as she posted 31 kills and averaged over 10 kills per
match as Randolph went 2-1 this week. She also chipped in with four
service aces, 23 digs and seven blocks. Saturday against Baruch,
Spinner posted 14 kills, six digs and two assisted blocks. She
followed that with 16 digs, nine kills and a hitting percentage of
.400 in a loss to Marymount (VA).
Kala Guy, Virginia Wesleyan College, Sophomore, Outside
Hitter
Guy led the Marlins to four straight wins and the
championship of the Holiday Inn Select Invitational with her
consistent play all over the court. She led VWC with 31 kills
and added 44 digs, five aces, two solo blocks and a block
assist. She recorded 11 kills in a 3-0 win over Mount
Aloysius College and 21 digs against Texas’ Howard Payne
University. In a five-match week she recorded 40 kills, 58
digs and six aces. She currently leads VWC in kills and
digs.
