ODAC Players of the Week - Week 22

FOREST, Va. --- Swimming completed its regular season a week ago and is in its final preparations for the ODAC championships this weekend. But that didn't keep basketball and indoor track athletes from lighting up scoreboards and result pages with some outstanding performances. Those earning weekly awards include (pictured, l-r, t-b): Kaitlyn Lehan from Bridgewater women's basketball, Khory Moore from Virginia Wesleyan men's basketball, Evan Truman from Lynchburg men's indoor track, Marissa Coombs from Virginia Wesleyan women's indoor track, DJ Petty from Randolph men's indoor track, and Lizzy Stanton from Washington and Lee women's indoor track.

ODAC Players of the Week

Thru Week Prior to: February 6, 2017

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Kaitlyn Lehan, Bridgewater, Jr., Center
Lehan, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., put together a superior low-post week in the Eagles' 1-1 showing over a pair of conference games. Lehan averaged 23.0 points, 16.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 7.5 blocked shots per game while shooting 54.3-percent from the field and 88.9-percent from the foul line. In a 74-66 win over Shenandoah, Lehan dropped in a career-best 30 points on 12-of-16 from the field and 6-of-6 from the stripe. She added a career-high 17 rebounds, two assits, and blocked eight shots. Lehan was back at it in a 74-69 setback to Randolph as she posted 16 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and seven more blocked shots. For the season, Lehan leads the ODAC with 87 blocked shots, which is 40 more than the next closest player. She is averaging 9.0 points per game and is sixth in rebounding at 8.5 boards per contest.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Khory Moore, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Guard
Moore, a senior from Arlington, Va., averaged 24.5 points and shot 69.6% from the field in Virginia Wesleyan's 2-0 week. In a 95-69 triumph over Eastern Mennonite, Moore needed just 17 minutes to score 25 points. He was 8-of-11 from the field including 6-of-8 from three-point range. He also made all three of his foul shots and pulled down a pair of rebounds to go with a steal. In an 83-56 win over Roanoke, Moore was 8-of-12 from the field and drilled three more three-pointers on the way to 24 points. He was 5-of-5 from the foul line and grabbed six boards while dishing out three assists and blocking a pair of shots. His lone steal of the game tied him with former VWC guard Thomas Sumpter '07 for the most in program history with 182. For the season, Moore leads the ODAC in points scored (487) and scoring average (24.4). He is also #1 in field goals made (158) and free throws made (106). He is second in three-pointers made (65), third in steals (35), fifth in foul shooting (.855), and seventh in field goal percentage (.515) and three-point shooting (.464).

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD ATHLETE
Lizzy Stanton, Washington and Lee, Sr., Pole Vault
Stanton, a senior from Papillion, Neb., was on the lone NCAA Division III competitor in the seeded pole vault at the Camel City Invitational on Saturday. She finished fourth overall after clearing 3.45 meters (11' 3.75"), which is the #1 height in the ODAC so far this year. That mark also ranks 38th in the country.

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD ATHLETE
Evan Truman, Lynchburg, Sr., Jumps
Truman, a senior from Richmond, Va., was back to his jumping best at the Vince Brown Invitational over the weekend, competing in both the long and triple jumps. Truman won the long jump competition with a leap of 6.93 meters (22' 9.0"), which is better than any jump by a conference athlete other than himself. Twice he previously eclipsed the 23-foot mark this season, including the nation's 11th best mark at the Liberty Kickoff. In the triple jump, Truman marked his season debut in the event by bounding 12.52 meters (41' 1.0"), which was good enough for 16th place overall.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - TRACK ATHLETE
Marissa Coombs, Virginia Wesleyan, Jr., Mid-Distance
Coombs, a junior from Newton, N.J., put together a trio of performances at the Vince Brown Invitational that each rank either first or second in the ODAC this season. Coombs' highlight showing was in the mile run in which she won the event with an ODAC-best time of 4:57.74. That time is less than three seconds off the ODAC record pace and currently ranks third in NCAA Division III. Coombs also stood out in the 800-meter run, placing third overall and second among collegiate competitors with a time of 2:20.23. That mark is second in the conference and 47th in the country. Coombs final contribution came in the 4x400-meter relay. She helped her teammates finish fourth with an ODAC season-best time of 4:15.47.

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK - TRACK ATHLETE
DJ Petty, Randolph, So., Hurdles/Sprints
Petty, a sophomore from Mechanicsville, Va., continued a strong season for Randolph hurlders and sprinters on Saturday with three strong performances at the Vince Brown Invitational. Petty's highlight effort came in the 60-meter hurdles. He finished third overall and second among NCAA Division III competition with a time of 0:08.31. That time is ranked 16th in the country and second in the ODAC by just 0.01-seconds. It is also 0.03-seconds off the conference record time (8.28 by EMU's Richard Robinson in 2016). Petty was the second D-III competitor and 10th overall to cross the line in the 60-meter dash with a time of 0:07.14, which ranks just outside the ODAC's top-five (he is second already at 7.07). He finished 14th overall and seventh amongst division competitors in the 200-meter dash in 0:23.46, which sits just outside the ODAC's top-10.
